I second corn head grease! Since you are going to a JD dealer, the service department should be able to print out slip clutch adjustment for that model. Vibration could be blades out of balance, bent blade(s), bent blade pin, bent blade holder, bent output shaft, failed/failing bearings.

It sounds like "rod bearing" is bad/knocking. When you loosen the injector line, that cylinder is not longer under load. Did you spray with ether to try and start it? That could cause piston/ring problems and smoke. I don't know if that would also knock.

Rather than a torque for the clutch bolts, you could tighten them, counting turns or flats until the large Belleville spring plate is compressed. Then when reassembling, tighten until the Belleville spring is compressed than back each nut off the number so turns or flats you counted. That's how...

You can. You must use an open center valve, since you have an open center system. It must be connected in series with another valve.

IIRC There is a drain plug on the water pump. If not, there are two hoses to the water pump you could pull. Red circle is where drain plug should be.

If mechanical (has capillary tube) the sensor mount must be compatible. The sensing "bulb" will have to immersed in coolant. So correct threads, room for sensor. If electrical, it will have to be same voltage as your machine (12volts) and sensor must be a match (threads) where it will install.

I agree with willy, check the easy things first. Start with Master Cylinder. If empty, look for broken line, leaking caliper. If full look for kinked line, or failed master cylinder. I doubt a caliper problem unless it's leaking.

I am guessing there is an accumulator that supplies hydraulic pressure when not running. I would try activating the quick attach system, key ON, but NOT running, both opening and closing until it stops moving (accumulator pressure used up).

A loader would not be my first choice for clearing snow. A one series Deere seem over kill to mow 1 1/2 acres. I have not used a box blade so I can't comment. A back blade and rack might be a better combo.

I am thinking the chamber below the column that has the removable cover is supposed to be partially full of oil to lube the shaft the steering arm bolts to. At the upper level is passage for excess oil to flow back to the sump. My 2030 has drain plug to drain this chamber.

Position 3 does not activate warning lights, only Bright headlights and rear flood light.

TxJim, is this galley from the chamber with the side cover on the right of the clutch housing? Or internal, at the gasket surface where the steering column mounts? My 2030 has drain plug for the chamber, but I think that was removed for the 40 series.

My 2030 has the broken rail tab. So it also does not have spring (no place to hook the forward end). It also has the the "park lock", so the range lever has spring inside to let the lever "bend". Sometimes shifting out of reverse, the lever wants to bend rather than move. GRRR :mad:

It sounds like you did everything right. Some recommend replacing the blade bolts with every new blade change. I replace when damaged (part of head chipped off, or the area the blade swings on is worn/grooved) If meant should you replace the blade nuts WITH locknuts, I see no need.

That, key 13, is the high range shift rail. It is the one I have seen broken in several tractors. I doubt it would affect reverse. Last time I split my 2030, I found it broken. Key 12 is the shift rail for reverse. I would guess the spring, key 3, TxJim mentioned is the more likely suspect...

I would go to your local JD dealer and ask if there are any 1025R owners that are considering trading for a newer or larger tractor. A salesman might know owners that like to trade a lot, or have shown interest in upgrading.

Per TxJim: If you see oil spraying, looking in fill cap of the rockshaft housing, you have leaking rockshaft (3pt) valve seals. You have to remove the rockshaft housing to access the rockshaft cylinder/valve assembly. I would check/repair this before changing the front pump.

I am in the slow the engine for direction change camp too. If I am doing a bunch of forward/reverse work, I'll set the hand throttle at a low rpm and use the foot throttle. Lifting my foot for rpm drop prior to direction change, then back to the foot throttle to raise rpms.

Rig a 12v bulb to replace the fuse. When a short is encountered the bulb will light (rather than using a fuse which will blow). Then you can wiggle/pull wires looking for the problem. Have you tried connecting the old or new solenoid, but not installing it? I am wondering if what ever it moves...

It does sound like ground issue. JD uses black wire color for ground. Also pins for the connector on the circuit board of the cluster may need resoldering, the solder joints can crack.

Per jd110, the gear shift lever is what engages park. Drawings are gear shift lever and internal parts. What part did you think might be backwards? Did you find where the ball goes?

Does the Service/Tech Manual say if the neutral switch is adjustable? As in add or remove shims? If not, I would check the connection. If that's OK, replace the neutral start switch.

Park pawl could also be broken. This can happen if operator put the tractor in park when it is still moving/rolling.

Is the equipment so old it has non spec fluid, or very old/dirty fluid? If so, I would not want them on my NEW tractor. If I had to use them, I try and flush and fill with new fluid. Now if that is not the case, I would not worry about the warranty being denied.

Have you found the dash warning light? Checked the bulb? I never had the dash light come on until the the switch on the radiator failed. My fan rarely came on. It would come on the most at shutdown. Then it did not run very long.

I am not sure on your tractor, but on my JD 6415, the PTO sensor and ground speed sensor are the same P/N. When I had issues, I swapped them to confirm the sensor was bad.

I worked at a summer camp that had a JD 4310 hydro. They had a 6' brush hog for it. It was too big, "tail wagging the dog" when used on off camber areas. I would NOT buy a JD MX series. Gear box issues JD work not stand behind. Pick any of the other major brands. Bush Hog, Land Pride, Rhino, Woods.

My 1996 never ran the fan long enough to run the battery down at shutdown.

Usually HST is a different pump than the implement pump. Also some tractors have dual (two pumps stacked, or end to end) pumps, one for implements and one for Power Steering. If your steering is not included in the 11.34gpm, I think you will be fine.

There is a lever/pedal on the right side that is the differential lock. You push down on it to lock the rear differential. I would not recommend doing this when the wheel(s) are spinning, you could break it. Engage it before wheel spin, when you expect to have wheel spin. Use of 4wd is better.

On the JD 245 Loader on my JD 2030 the valve mounts in a box on the loader mounting frame. The box has holes to mount the cables (outer) opposite the valve spools. You could probably fabricate a mount for the cables to connect to your current valve.

I think it uses a lever to engage the rear PTO. I would check the lever/linkage/shaft into transmission case, to see if all move. Maybe a sheared pin in the linkage or shaft? Try engaging the PTO with it not running?

When I bleed the 2030's brakes, I use clear tubing, run to the transmission filler. I had to replace a left brake line. It was kinked (guess a stick hit it?) I was surprised the replacement came prebent and fit very well.

Thanks for the update how the muffler came off. I did not think the springs just failed. I had wrongly guessed the engine moved, rocked in rubber mounts, or a mount broke. Can you post pictures of the damaged parts?
