Think we found problem today. So my lever won't go over to park. It's like something is stopping it. Took shifter out checked pins than took top off and found the long rod that shift in is locking the rod so it won't mover all the way over to park. A little ball popped out what is that piece called. When I moved the rod it felt like it was stuck so I rolled the rod felt a click and it released it to extend fully. Could someone messed it it and that little piece is backwards.

Per jd110, the gear shift lever is what engages park.
