Options for SSQA trailer mover (receiver hitch) ?

deezler, if that is on the 3pt, can you still use the hitch receiver? Looks like it would need an extra long shank for the ball mount. Jon

The picture your quoted is the backside of the adapter, where it mounts on the front-loader SSQA.

The 2" receiver sticks out a bit on the front side when it's mounted. With that said, I do still kinda want to get a long shank insert to increase my reach and visibility when using it.

I understand the receiver is usable on the loader arms. But can you use the receiver when the plate is on the 3pt? And yes that plate would hinder me to see the ball mount when trying to hook up the trailer. Jon

I dont know what the actual tractor end of your SSQA looks like but you could 'window' the middle of the plate to get better visibility for the initial hookup if the tractor side would allow visibility there. Once hooked up you really don't need to see it anymore.

But considering the lift force at the end of a typical bucket is far more than most small trailers' tongue weight, i would just run an extension in the hitch to get the visibility if you need it. I have a ~12-14" 2" drawbar extension i use in various ways that would fit the bill. Put another sloppy fitting bit of 2.5" square tube facing up somewhere else on there and you'd also have a 'storage spot' for it while using 3pt stuff. Or drill another hole closer to the other end of your receiver and just run the drawbar backwards when something is on the 3pt. Or just put it in a box on your tractor.

The other thing is you could run a big drop drawbar in it.. seems counterintuitive but it's easier to tilt the attachment down and see the ball under it, then to get it so far out in front that you could see the ball over it. You could 'dump' the attachment down probably about 45 degrees and still be able to slide the ball into a coupler like that. You can curl it up to level once you're in.

Thanks. I’m legit impressed with that spot/identification of my hooptie. Had a new Alltrack, but Carvana was quite insane for a bit - so i took the profit and grabbed this Jetta off Craigslist to daily. Been fun to mod for cheap, and the 5-cylinder is honestly a pretty nice engine (once it has 20 more hp).

I honestly never even contemplated trying to hitch this ssqa plate onto my rear 3-pt hitch. I don’t… think it’s really meant for that? Seems like you’d have to bolt pins on one side of the lower 3-pt arm connections or it would be floppy as heck. But i also dont have any other rear towing provisions, so now i am intrigued lol. You’d just need a long-shank ball-insert for the receiver to get it pinned in and still extending enough to he useable. (Or drill another pin hole in the receiver tube right by the back side?)

Im a big fan of 5cyl intake noise! They're not fast fast but, fun enough! I had a buddy with a 5cyl Golf who TORE UP h-stock class at local autoX for a while.

Im a car guy for life and only been a tractor guy goin on 2 years, so far.

Yes, the bottom pieces slide back and forth on the square tube and normally there is a short top link piece.

Yes, and there is also a type of adapter that lets you pick up an SSQA attachment with your 3pt. I think it is less useful and less common, but i still plan to build the mini-skid equivalent for my tiny tractor that i am adapting the miniskid SSQA onto. Having a regular bucket on the 3pt for example isn't real useful for material moving if you can barely curl it, but it DOES make for a nice tool carrier or carryall and you didn't have to build separately. It's just a big bucket, you throw stuff in it. Plus you can take two attachments out with you into the field and switch between them without having to carry one of them on top of the other one (and drop it, maybe).

Welp, kind of a letdown. With this normal 4-way hitch insert, I can’t see it from the tractor, at all. Even when standing up.

So for moving lighter trailers like this, its not hard to get close snd just manhandle the trailer onto the ball. But I really wanted to be able to drive up and snatch them, without getting off the tractor. Hmmmmmmm

I would cut some windows or drill some big holes on the SSQA plate. That should help you see the hitch from the seat, I think.

Then again, you still have the hood in the way though. Maybe one of those backup cameras?

I think I’ll start with a $33 gizmo from harbor freight. Ought to bring the ball into view (especially if i use the upper receiver).

That is an advantage of my single arm hitch receiver mount. I do understand that I could be twisting the loader arms, but my trailer are empty at the time and are light tongue weights. Jon

I acquired a SSQA that was not for my model of tractor, and modified it to fit my L4330 Kubota. We had to engineer something to replace gussets, came up with the 4" square tubing. Added a receiver tube to the middle. I always leave a ball mount in place, reversed if I have another attachment on the SSQA.

Not as visible from the seat as I would like, but I can get under trailers without having to dismount

I received the Titan receiver mount plate attachment v2, put in on my ssqa and moved my 14' open trailer around. It worked quite well and with the front window on the plate, it was fairly easy to see the ball and place it under the receiver on the trailer, did need to stand up from the seat but no problem there. I then hooked it up to my 24' enclosed car hauler, worked quite well there also. Backing up or pulling the trailer gets interesting and not real easy to navigate, but I will get better with practice, pushing the trailer, tractor moving forward, was great, could push trailer exactly where I wanted it to go. Very happy with the purchase!
