Why do the off topic sections drive more clicks than the tech parts?

Tech issues drive about 2 pages of discussion unless your dealing with someone who is obstinate...off topic sections can drive that in an hour.

Tech might drive the traffic, but the off topic section set the pace of traffic.

James is a good friend to me. I guard the Northern border of our great State, he guards the Southern border.

I left TBN for several months. Came back a couple months ago. Immediately noticed a change here. I had witnessed the Gestapo management of the Administrator on another site. Didn't think it would come here. That was naive of me.

This is the only place I've ever been where such a large group of Conservatives are herded by such a small group of Liberals. Socialism at it's finest.

Yes, but it's the tip toeing around those discussion in a overt/covert manner is what were talking about here. Not the blatent posting off your list.

We live in a tribal world and sides are assigned to viewpoints. Those viewpoint should not be considered politics just because someone assigned a side.

You realize this site derives revenue from participation no participation equals no income and it's privately held so the boss gets a paycheck every month from it. All about revenue and playing the woke game could cut his water appreciably.

Another method that seems to works is putting the off topic section behind a pay wall. To access the off topic section, buy a "membership" and then access is allowed. Condition the membership on self moderation and there will be no whining to the moderators. If you can't handle the off topic area, get better arguments.

Good grief, I've been here since 2003. That is a long time. I remember when Bird posted a lot and moderated fairly too. The moderation today is far from fair and that is too bad.

I’ve been here since 2000 and really enjoyed learning from Bird and his moderation. But let’s look at this realistically. The social acrimony didn’t exist in 2000 like it does today. I don’t recall the nasty political dialogue back then like we see today. Who knows how he would have handled moderation?

Actually it is already there and has been for a while now but it's so filled with vitriolic comments from a select group of posters, you'd better have a really thick skin to post on it... It's TopNewsTalk and the boss is the only moderator (when he moderates it that is). It's pretty darn rough to put it mildly.

Have a feeling when a certain moderator reads this thread and that ain't Muhammad either, it will get locked. I'll give you one guess, it is related to sphagnum
