How’s Eddie?

Received the AstraZeneca jab this early afternoon... in at 1240, yet another form to fill in, a quick prick (and I got a lollie for being such a good boy!), a ten minute wait (in case there was any adverse reaction, no different procedure than when I get a flu shot) and on my way by 1300.

No reaction so far. Anything that might be associated with it is probably 'in my head' as I've been actively looking for something to happen.

Second jab already scheduled in 12 weeks.

Easy peasy.

That was news from about 3 weeks ago from Europe. It has since been found to be wrong.
Says March 29th on the link. Yesterday.
My niece is a nurse. She works with Covid patients everyday since last summer. She just got vaccinated a few weeks ago. Never got Covid. Used common sense methods to avoid the virus. She has a husband and 3 year old and a 1 year old at home to worry about.
Im not anti vax, I just think it’s smart to question it. I bet you’ll see more side affects after the months roll on. From what I read, the J & J looks like it might be the best option.

smokers are prioritized. They spend the better part of 20-40 years giving themselves lung cancer, emphysema, COPD and to those around them just being generally annoying, smelly, littering and now they are prioritized.

I'm certain this will be followed for decades and the good and bad always comes out over time.

People around me have had one of the 3...

Don't know anyone with Astra Zeneca here.

All the hospital Docs at my facility received Pfizer, staff mostly Moderna and some neighbors Johnson and Johnson one and done.

The idea as presented is the vaccine is to prevent ICU stay and or deaths... it was not presented to us as a cure all or a shield preventing any illness.

So far those closest to me with Covid are University students on Athletic scholarships and for the most part did not know they had it. Symptoms mild like runny nose.

Those that have died with a nexus to me are elderly family members of friends and colleagues... including parents of docs and staff...

That said life is returning... rush hour traffic, people out and about for now.

It's good to be able to discuss the many sides of the issue and right now it remains a choice...

Many have vaccinated for loved ones...

Right or wrong... When I saw just about every Doc I work with sit down and roll up their sleeve it really was we are all in this together...
I trust my doctor. He's mid 30's. I asked him if he was getting vaccinated, and if he'd have his children vaccinated. He said yes he already got vaccinated and will get his kids vaccinated as soon as it's available to them. Good enough for me.

We had the same dilemma when they came out with the HPV vaccine. Seemed new to us and didn't want our kids being guinea pigs. Asked the pediatrician if he'd have his kids vaccinated with it. He said he already did. So again, we trusted our doctor.

It's not approved for use in the U.S. as of yet.

My mom and I trusted my moms doctor, too. He was in his 60’s, so much more experience.
He told her she had nothing wrong with her when she complained about back pain on 1/14.
Dead 11 months later 12/14 from cancer in the spinal cord.
Suffered horribly.

We are the testing and the guinea pigs.

This is often the case... but seldom on such a world wide scale...

Looking back this could really be one of those medical breakthroughs and I hope it is.

Hope so, too but I wonder how much testing could be completed in such a short time? I realize testing has been accelerated by other medical breakthroughs and computers.

My guess is it won’t be approved here anytime soon. Canada just suspended it for anyone under 35 due to blood clot worry.

I probably wouldn’t get it if it was an option. Even though I’m slightly over 35.

Yep... only in Europe from those I know.

Interesting some with appointments arrive to learn Astra Zeneca and decide not getting vaccinated whereas not the case with Pfizer and Moderna from my limited circle in Germany and Austria.

The total lockdown in elderly city dwellers also takes a mental toll... especially since many have small studio apartments. Those in the country on farms have it much better.

My cousin's dairy farmer father-in-law is still feeding and milking and on the tractor everyday.

That's awful and my condolences.

When I became an adult, I went looking for my own doctor, as I didn't trust our family doctor. I just didn't have good feelings about him. I went through Ask a Nurse and got some doctor recommendations. I interviewed a few doctors and settled on one. He was about 5 years older than me. I was with him for 30 years. He retired about 2 years ago. I'm getting good feelings about my new, younger doctor. However, I alway research what he tells me, to get my own sense of the situation.

My wife and I try and get out for a walk every evening. She also walks on her lunch hour, and rides an eliptical trainer early each morning. I walk all day at work.

Moving around is not just good for your body. It gets your blood pumping, and your brain working. Fresh air does the body good. We are both fortunate.

I just hope we get the upper hand on this virus before it mutates to something much worse. It could happen.

My wife and i are testing both moderna and pfizer. She got pfizer, i moderna. Her experience is more like a flu shot, mine, nothing, just a little sore spot where the shot was delivered.

From what little i can weed thru on the AstraZenec, it sounds to me as though, statically, the population that has been getting the vaccine is more likely to have experience similar issues, with or without the vaccination.

The quicker everyone gets vaccinated, and the more stringent we are about mask wearing, social distancing, hand washing, etc... the fewer hosts the virus will infect. Fewer hosts = less chances for mutations to occur. It's a group effort.

Wife and I have gotten 2 Moderna shots with only arm pain. We are now bullet proof but wear masks and social distance out of respect for our fellow humans. I am hitting the road tomorrow to visit my older sister whom I have not seen for a year. She got polio back when she was 4 years old and before there was a vaccine. When the vaccine happened anyone with common sense and those who witnessed the carnage of polio lined up with arms ready. I have watched my sister deal with the polio all her life and new symptoms still appear at times. She is a hero in my mind for the courage she has shown dealing with polio. I think getting the covid vaccine is a personal choice but an easy one for me.
