My wife and I got our shots at the Denton County mass vaccination site at Texas Motor Speedway. I was pleasantly surprised with how incredibly well organized it was. It took us 30 minutes and that included the 15 minute post shot waiting period to check for reactions.

Rarely have I ever seen such a large group of people (EMT's, volunteers, FEMA, National Guard, Police, medical staff) work so well together and be so well organized. Usually it's a cluster-cluck of ego's and confusion. Kudo's to the organizers and folks manning the vaccination site. It's refreshing to see an effort run so well.

Same thing at the center we went to. In and out. Pleasant. I saw no one there that was angry, upset, or rude.

I have never worried about death from flu or measles or polio or many other diseases but I still got the vaccinations to prevent me from suffering the symptoms and spreading them to other people, especially those who it could harm the worst.

Polio and many other diseases have been almost extinct within our lifetimes because of vaccines and people willing to take them. Lately, there have been outbreaks of measles and other diseases that we considered extinct in our area because of people unwilling to take the vaccine. I consider this very inconsiderate of those who refuse to take the vaccines and possibly contaminate and sicken or kill others.

Yes, you have the legal right not to take the vaccine but should we not have the legal right for you to stay away from others to not risk spread of the disease.

Not arguing your points here but the ones that refuse the vaccinations are taking the risk. Why is it on our shoulders to save the inconsiderate from themselves and others?

It would be like expecting drug addicts to stop. Not going to happen.

I don't particularly care if they risk their own life. That's their right. However, they become a danger to everyone else as possible carriers and spreaders.

Certain personal freedoms, liberties, rights, etc... get trumped when it affects others. Freedom of speech, for example, we can't yell "FIRE!" in a crowded theater.

It shows a lack of empathy towards others, as well as sympathy.

I did ask the nurse that gave me my shot "why are some healthcare workers not getting the vaccine". She said that she had been one of those people and it was because the shot was for emergency use and had not went through normal vetting. She said she has since received the vaccine as well as most everyone at the hospital. She said it outweighs the risk of not getting the vaccine.

Has it been officially determined getting the vaccine keep you from spreading the virus? Last I read it had not yet been verified.

All I've read so far is that getting the vaccine reduces your chances of catching it, and of those that do catch it even after being vaccinated, the symptoms are severely reduced, keeping them out of the hospital, which drastically reduces deaths.

So from that, I conclude that people that have been vaccinated, yet still contract covid, wether symptomatic or asymptomatic, can still spread the virus.

Therefore, vaccines reduce the infection rate, and masks reduce the spread by those that still get infected after being vaccinated, reducing the spread even more.

Makes sense to me.

550,000 dead in addition to all other causes of death. Even if 50% of the cases were misdiagnosed (they weren't), that's a quarter million more dead in the U.S. this year.

So, far as we know, Covid was NOT created in a lab. There is no evidence contrary to this. We do know as of today that the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are 80% effective after the 1st shot and 90% effective after the 2nd shot.

The AstraZeneka vaccine is much different than the Moderna and Pfizer. Apples vs oranges....pick your fruit.

That was news from about 3 weeks ago from Europe. It has since been found to be wrong.

It's good to be able to discuss the many sides of the issue and right now it remains a choice...

Many have vaccinated for loved ones...

Right or wrong... When I saw just about every Doc I work with sit down and roll up their sleeve it really was we are all in this together...
