Flail Mower Let's talk flail mowers

I'd use the forks to lift the mower, block it and then pull out the 3pt assembly. Don't worry about damaging the mower or scraping the paint. That will happen soon enough

And, make sure you look carefully at the 3pt assembly before putting it together. It's perfectly possible to put it on backwards and it will in fact work that way though not as intended. Ask me how I know.:ashamed:

Thanks! That's what I was leaning towards. Too bad I'm gone this weekend, so I need to wait another week to play...

So I finally got out to the land to use the mower, mowed great for the first 5 minutes until i found some old rusty tomato cages in the grass. Took about a half hour to untangle and pull all the junk out of the mower. I had to clean out my pants too after the sound the mower made when it got a hold of the metal cages. About 2 hours later, i'm almost finished mowing and the belt starts smoking like crazy. I knew the belt was worn down pretty good and was fully expecting it to go before I finished mowing anyways. I took the cover off to check out all the pulleys and whatnot. The belt had popped off the center pulley. To me it looks like my middle pulley is sticking out a little causing the belt to twist a little. I took a few pictures to show you guys and hopefully you can give me some advice on anything bad you see with the setup. I did just buy this mower so anything you see was done by the previous owner.

Hopefully the pictures show up correctly. I've never really posted pictures to a forum before.

Its hard to see in those pictures. But the middle pulley sticks out a little causing the belt to twist a little as it goes up to the top pulley. Maybe the tension spring just needs to be tightened up a little? I read somewhere that the Ford 907 mowers use the C52 belt. Is this correct?

Hello Zerker,

What you have is not good. NO twisting allowed.

If the center snubber pulley is not lined up with the two driven pulleys UGH, UGh!!!
There is no adjustment for belt tension on your flail mower other than the
spring used to apply dragging tension to the Flat Snubber Pulley.

OK, the V belt is toast file it in the garbage bag first.

Second, Take a metal straight edge and check to see if all three pulleys are lined up.

You may have a bent snubber pulley arm if the arm is stuck or sticking or unable to move much
due to the wrong belt size.

That center pulley is very loose and can move in all directions. Looking at it in person I can tell it's not lined up properly. I suppose the next thing to do is take that entire pulley and arm off?

So, my Caroni TM1900 arrived! It was too long for the lift gate and pallet was longer than the width of the truck, so I had to use my forks to offload it. Glad I have the 48" forks, as 42" would not have gotten it done. Now I have an issue and a stupid question. It was shipped with the 3pt and the PTO shaft under the mower. What is the best way to get those out for assembly? My ideas so far include hooking up to 2 of the 3 points and lifting/tilting the mower until I can get the 3pt attachment assembly out. Or, trying to slide forks between the mower and the pallet without damaging anything and lifting it that way. What have others done?

My only advice too ( just don't forget). Measure your PTO shaft and cut it to size if necessary ... If it's to long it will cause a doozy if a repair

Hi Leonz, I have a customer complain the flail mower throw the grass from front, after I watch his photos and video, I guess this is because the grass is wet and fall down on ground, but what can we do when flail mower cut such "grass"? Or this is not the "grass" which flail mower cannot cut?

Hello Mr. Yuan,

I do not have the ambition to yell in Mandarin; but once again this "flail mower owner" is not using the flail mower properly.

It is much too low to cut properly and as result it is scooping and shearing
the matted grass up like a sharp scythe with the scoop knives on your flail mower.

He certainly decided to mow without adjusting the rear roller(Lower the rear roller)
to raise the mowers cutting height-you can adjust the rear roller on your flail mowers
to adjust the cutting height I hope?

He has to lower the rear roller to raise the cutting height Mr. Yuan.
