Flail Mower Let's talk flail mowers

I Saw the county out mowing ditches yesterday. Didn't get a great look but they were using a Alamo flail mower on the 3 pt hitch and had one on a boom on the right side. But the interesting thing was the tractor had a big Alamo sticker on the middle of the side of the hood, no other mfg logo I could see.

So a question for those in the know, did Alamo ever sell complete setups with tractors and relabel the tractors as Alamo tractors?

HE double hockey sticks no!!!!!!!!!!!! They did not and do not thank god!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You probably saw the side mount hydraulic tank for the hydraulic power for the boom
functions- lift/lower/swing boom in/swing boom out and the hydraulic drive for the Flail Mower Rotor itself.

What you missed was the radiator for the hydraulic fluid used to power the flail mower and boom which is powered by a PTO Hydraulic Pump and the low voltage electrical system to power the fan on some models.

I would actually like this set up, however my little 5240 doesn't seem to be big enough

Now you got me thinkin'
I'm going to keep a camera in the car and keep an eye out.
I'm pretty sure that the large Alamo Logo was on the hood of the tractor.
Yes there was some extra stuff on the front of the tractor but I didn't get a good look.

Now my inquiring mind wants to know.

I wouldn't be surprised if an Alamo salesman put the decal on the tractor. Probably gave the shop foreman some Alamo swag and slapped the decal on as a special "gift" during delivery. Maybe Alamo even arranged for a slight rebate for placing their logo on the tractor.

Here its is, the Alamo Mower!
I can't believe my luck, It was at the end of my driveway when I drove out this afternoon. I rushed back up to the house grabbed my camera and snapped a couple of pictures. Here is the best of the bunch.
Its a Ford tractor.

But you can see the labels on the hood I mentioned in a previous post.

Should've asked the operator about the decals. I still think it was a salesman.

Yup its a ford Mule,

That state Ford dealer won the low bid for supplying tractors and mowers to the municipality.
And most likely the same Ford farm equipment dealer is also an Alamo farm equipment
dealer and bids the equipment as a package for the low bid and they supply tractors and
mowers to the state/county/town/village municipality as the low bidder.

Everyone gets on the buying power gravy train to take advantage of the specific states
buying power as almost everything is put out to bid to make purchases of equipment,
parts and everything down to the smallest item needed like paper and pens and pencils etc.

The Oil radiator and gear pump for the hydraulic drive flail mower and the boom are run off
the crank shaft pulley like so many other powered implements in Europe that are front mounted.

2 more months and they NYSDOT mows my ditch, YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen several with the Alamo branding and just as many with out.
Same with Tiger, which is (now? always has been?) part of the Alamo family.

Check Tractor House, Ford tractors 40-99 hp, I'm sure there will be several of each.

So, my Caroni TM1900 arrived!
It was too long for the lift gate and pallet was longer than the width of the truck, so I had to use my forks to offload it. Glad I have the 48" forks, as 42" would not have gotten it done.

Now I have an issue and a stupid question. It was shipped with the 3pt and the PTO shaft under the mower. What is the best way to get those out for assembly? My ideas so far include hooking up to 2 of the 3 points and lifting/tilting the mower until I can get the 3pt attachment assembly out. Or, trying to slide forks between the mower and the pallet without damaging anything and lifting it that way. What have others done?
