Here we are putting on the 2nd piece of ridge vent. It started to get windy right aftter this photo & we had to come down & work on lower "stuff". You'll see that we are tied off. If you look close you'll see my daughters cat has climbed up on the roof to inspect the works. Truly, she was not that much help!

Finishing the 2nd piece of ridge cap, You'll see the top of the cat's tail to the left of us. She got bored & decided to wander around the roof for a while. She eventually came down w/us when we bugged out due to the wind.

If the weather allows we hope to get the remaiing ridge cap & roofing finished tomorrow. If it gets too windy we have a fall back plan to work on the end wall siding around the big rolling doors.

I wish they would have done the insulation like that on my barn.

The insulation makes installing the metal a little mor ecomplicated but I believe the payback will be worth it. Particularly in that it should stop the condensation rain during our hot humid summer months. We lapped all insulation edges a lapped a minimum of 3" and sealed w/a special aluminum foil type tape.

Cutting the roof rake angle on a long sheet. Using a previously cut piece as a guide to get the angle quick & right.

Great looking building!! I wish I had the space for something like that. Must have been fun to build.

I have a grand father that lives near you in Mayfield. Going to go see him next week. There are so many people from everywhere, I know I will be driving by so many TBN'rs on my trip.

have a great one.

Also put drain traps in the stalls along with spreading gravel in the stalls & started hanging the red oak for the inside of the stall walls.

Wow, that just looks amazing!!!

Are you milling it yourself? If not, it's got to be super expensive, but it sure gives a nice look to the place.

When it's done it will last forever. That oak is really cool!!!

Eddie - We too like the look of the red oak. There's a saw mill about 5 miles from our place where I'm getting the lumber. They do a nice job - it's all rough sawn as they don't have a planer. They operate a band saw mill so even their rough sawn is pretty smooth. I've used up the 300 or so bf I've had curing & am waiting on them to restart cutting red oak again. Should have more in a month or so. In the mean time there's plenty to do w/finishing the rear doors, roof & the high ends not to mention the inside work.
I hope your dozer engine overhaul is going as well as can be expected. It looks like you're getting right along w/the work & doing it for a lot less than having to pay a shop.

Before I put the dense grade in the stalls I dug pits, connected them w/a drain tile & filled them w/washed rock. This is to give any moisture or horse urine a place to collect & then leach into the soil. This should keep the clay soil generaly dry & prevent any pumping under hoof. That'll keep the rubber stall mats flat & make mucking the stalls easier. Here's a shot of the holes & drain tile.
