Time Change already this weekend

   / Time Change already this weekend #81
Here's what I recall of my 18-24 years...

36-40 hours at airport Fixed Base Operation.
Driving trucks out of AM General in South Bend to RR spurs around northwest Indiana about 3 days a week.
Lifeguarding for the city a couple evenings a week and weekends in summer.
12 credit hours at Indiana University in South Bend, then Indiana Vocational Technical College in South Bend.
Dating my wife.
Drinking heavily. 🙃

Sleep was a luxury. :sleep::sleep::sleep:

All in all, I have few regrets. Wish I would have played competitive baseball is about it.

I'm with you two. I have never bought the arguments either way for or against it, as there are many countries north of the continental 48 that seem to do just fine, with darkness that sets in much earlier.
That is so true. Daylight saving is almost universal around the world, and the time zones are + or - from GMT (British time). If one country changes then it throws that country out of the universally recognised times for everyone in the world who needs to work around different time zones in other countries.

Take a look at a map of the continental 48. See how far south your southern border is. See how far south of many countries your northernmost border is.

I am not particularly far north in the grand scheme of things, but a long way north of Paris or Vienna which are about the same as your northernmost border. Nowhere in Britain is south of any of the USA. For a while either side of the shortest day sunrise here is about 9 a.m. and sunset about 3 p.m. Sticking to Summer time (which has been tried here for one year 50 odd years ago) meant that even several hundred miles south of where I now live, it was dark until about 10 a.m. Sunrise here would be about that time (without being able to see the sun of course because of winter weather patterns).
