Back to earth. You do bring up an important point that new (first) grapple buyers are often confused about: there is no reason to have a grapple as wide as your tractor. If you are pushing through brush the grapple acts like the prow of a ship...it pushes the brush away from the sides as you drive forward. Better to have a narrower grapple that can take advantage of physics and concentrate force rather than disperse it. My grapple is 48" and there are more times when I wish it were even narrower than times I wished it was wider. Of course this assumes you are doing general land clearing and utility work. For cleaning up construction debris a full width grapple is probably better as you are picking up lots of little individual bits of junk on the ground.
