Just got this picture of Hobby from a relative. Looks like a while before these fly again or the airport opens.

That ain't Hobby airport. The water wasn't that deep anyway. Hobby only had 15 Southwest jets there when the flooding happened, and those tails are not even in Southwest logos Those tails look like Delta. They even ain't all Boeing 737s in the photo. Southwest flies only 737s. Fake news photo.

It ain't IAH either. IAH's terminals are in the middle of the airport.
hugs, Brandi

That's good to know. I am sure he believes it. Unfortunately his house is on the other side of I-45 and is flooded. The Harris County Flood Control District rain gauge closest to his house has measure 36" since the storm started and south of him has received 39". Just no where for the water to go.

Maybe that's why all the water is at the airport-so they can load it on cargo planes and fly it out somewhere else?

Good news for us is every update from the National Hurricane Center is moving the track just a little further to the east. Bad news for those to the east of Texas.

Present track takes it over Beaumont, Jasper, east of Shreveport. Dirty side will be on Louisiana side.

I would hope so, I would want the numbers of all those planes or I'm not flying anymore.
Back before working for a major airline, 26 years ago, I worked for Emerald Air. We had 4 DC-9 passenger birds and 2 DC-9 freighters. One of the passenger planes, before Emerald acquired it, it sit parked with it's tail out over salt water. The whole inside of the tail was corroded. DC-9s have all the air conditioning and such in the tail, while Boeing 737s have them under the cabin at the wings. Anyway, someone (before I started working there) sandblasted inside that tail to clean out the surface corrosion. Every time we worked on the air conditioning packs (packages) we would get sand on us. It was a mess.

One of Emerald's Flight Attendents asked me once if the plane was safe enough to fly one. I told her........I'd fly on it (and often did). But then under my breath................I'd say, but I wouldn't let my kids fly on it.

No sir, scrap them.

Also, you would want serial numbers. Registration (tail) numbers can be changed for an extra fee.

Standup Company. Southwest Airlines are calling all their employees affected by Harvey to ask if we are safe and if we need anything. Also if we had any storm water or damage to our homes. I told the lady I have a gully on my place and two ponds and need about 3 weeks off of sunlight to fix it all!

She also told me Hobby will be closed to at least Saturday. I would think IAH also.

My supervisor has called me 2-3 times a day, since Friday, to check on my welfare and see if there's anything I need. Been married to her for 10 years!

I'm told both IAH and HOU are ready to roll but, as you stated, you can't get there and additional time needed by airlines to get assets in place. We did cancel our Thursday morning trip to Colorado.

We got sunshine this afternoon. I ran my RC boat a bit on the island pond.
Radar shows the Sabine River area getting hammered with heavy rain. Look out East Texas and La.

Yeah.........you can't run an airport without employees or passengers. Sadness prevails about your cancelled trip.
