I was in Houston during Carla but my cousins were on the island and their property suffered some severe damage. It's depressing to think about the devastation that might occur over the next 48 hours.

1962. I only remember my Dad talking about it. I was but a wee girl then.

Some good brush burning days coming up!

TBS
Yeah, too bad the bigger pile is all green and sweetgum.:( Just looked out the back door and saw two pumpkin sized glowes at the pile. Yeah.............it will burn for days. The coals are under some huge stumps.

Changed oil in the generator this a.m. Thankfully we may have dodged a bullet here North of Houston. Still - you can never be too prepared...

Stay safe and dry all!

Heck, that bottle will last me 6-7 months. Well, as long as the electricity stays on.

May be a long weekend Brandi! Do you have to go to Hobby this weekend?

We're flying to Colorado Springs 8 a.m. next Thursday.

RockPort Mayor: The mayor pro tem of Rockport, Texas, told residents of the city where Hurricane Harvey is expected to make landfall Friday night to get out while they can or mark their ID on their arms in preparation for the worst.

No, I'm off Friday, Sat. and Sunday nights. Just waiting to hear SWA close the Hobby station Monday and Tuesday and maybe Wed. Corpus and Harlingen staions closed earlier today. Then we get paid to watch it rain at home!

My last stop today was to pick up 1.75 L of Crown Royal. Never bought a bottle that big. I did get to burn a huge brush pile as the drizzle started.
hugs, Brandi

I keep a 1.75L bottle of Crown Royal on hand for medicinal purposes, but I now buy the one with Apple flavoring. It works best with one shot in 6 oz. of Coke Zero.

Good in case of a snake bite!

You folks down south take care. National Hurricane Center had to add another color above 20" to their rainfall prediction chart. Just got our first rain from Harvey in Athens, 0.07".

Thanks. I was out this morning in my rain suit and boots giving the Big RED Beast a bath! It was pouring so hard................I went out on the dam and removed the waterpump to the barn.:( I was thinking, if it kept raining this hard, it could put 2 feet of water over the dam and drown my precious Honda pump. Time will tell, but the ducks and geese are loving it all!:licking:
