Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Pictures of your snow weapons

Amarsh, I take it off all the time, literally takes 3 minutes. My question is for all the snowblower owners out there. I have a possible lucknow 72 inch snowblower I might get a friend to look at..as I won't be home for a while. The owner says its a shear pin. What do most think of shear pins as opposed to the slip clutch. I'd prefer the slip clutch, but Do most think a shear pin is alright. Said the blower wasn't used much at all, its $2100 Canadian. I think their getting close to $4000 if new, around these parts anyway, but then I noticed other prices under $3000 elsewhere in Canada. There is also a 62 inche Kubota snowblower also..not sure if that has a clutch or not. My tractor is 5 feet wide, so 60 inches there abouts...

I have a 6' Lucknow, and it is a very heavy duty and well built blower. I have only broken one shear bolt in the 6 years I have had it, and I was back up and running in 5 minutes. As a State Side consumer, Lucknow is a royal pain to get parts for though.

Taking the backhoe off for the first time went fairly well . Hopefully getting it back on will go smooth as well !

That looks like a real nice snowblower! You'll have to report back after your first big snow. I'm not familiar with your backhoe mounting system, but I was a little nervous the first time I went to reinstall my hoe, and for the first few months I went out of my way to minimize taking it on and off. Turns out it is pretty easy, and these days I don't even think about it. I bet you will get real fast at doing yours.

I had a Bobcat ssqa complete assy. hanging around and made it to fit a 3 pt hitch. Mostly just because I could with just a little work & some steel. I have a bunch of skidsteer attachments and got to thinking about a plow on each end might speed things up some. Not sure I'll take it on my plowing "route" but I hitched it up today just to see how it looked and the added length.

My latest purchase is a 30 inch plow. I think Mrs-tiller has enough ballast for traction, I just hope she doesn't step off the edge causing a rollover.

Heavy made blower. Their alright. Is it pretty quick to replace the pin? Carry a few extras and just replace where is? I was wondering if I could buy a slip clutch and convert

There are two shear pins (1/4" Grade 2 bolts) on my Pronovost and both are easy to replace. I carry two small zippered tool bags under the seat. One general pins, and tools. The other has bolts, Nylock nuts, a 7/16" box wrench and a small ratchet with a 7/16" socket. The bolts and nuts are in ziplok sandwich bags to make them easier to locate. I break 8-10 per season. Replacing a bolt is so quick I usually don't bother putting my coat on when I get out to do one.

Nice rig.
When done blowing snow, what is your routine for cleaning off the equipment? Stored without heat in shed, waiting for next storm, or in a heated area?

Those guys with cabs just never miss an opportunity to rub it in. ;)

Nice, I like the joystick instead of a couple of dpdt toggles. Can't see in the video, does the joystick handle the current of the motors wired direct, or is there a bank of relays to switch the motors?

Joy stick is single pole each direction so I mounted box with relays right on blower.

Put connectors on the joystick and power from tractor.

I just added a piece of stall mat to rear blade for snow work; time will tell if this helps preserve my 1/3 mile gravel road.

Wish I'd had it years ago. If it doesn't get run on the road very much, I jab around at it with a modified baseball bat and get as much snow off as I can and park it in an unheated shed. The shed gets warm enough from the sun to melt off any remaining snow.

If I run it into town to do the church, I take a hose or pressure washer to it to get the road salt off before parking it.

I did something similar, but I removed the steel blade entirely and just run with the stall mat. It is like a giant squeegie, but when operating, the leading edge trips under the metal blade support and glides over the surface (to the thickness of the mat) and doesn't disturb the gravel.

In the spring, I use this same setup in conjunction with my EA LandShark grading scraper to re-distribute and repair any issues.

Yes I enjoy my cab on my BX2230 for snowblowing. However, in the summer I can take off the doors for mowing, but I can't get close to some trees. Oh well. Jon
