Not sure what this has to do with owning and operating a Kubota :confused2:

Posted in the wrong forum. Sorry:eek:

If there is a way to change it, I will but thanks for the free advice:thumbsup:

You may have to contact a moderator to move it. I don't see a problem doing some light digging with any CUT; if it won't stand up to that I don't want it.

You can do light digging like was said go slow.If your going to be digging in clay a tooth bar will help.My tractor is only 20hp and it digs just fine.Take it easy and you will be amazed what you can accomplish.

My 18Hp 670 dug & moved 10 yds of red clay. I was able to dig 6 ft into a bank 32 inches deep. Constructed the first RR tie wall today. About 1/2 through I bought a tooth blade in part because the barn and existing fence keeps me from a head on attack.

I would think the higher HP might provide the power to damage equipment, so a bit more care might be needed. I shaved an inch or two at a time until I hit big rocks, then I used the tooth bar to to pick them out and moved on. Tried to post pictures but the ones on my phone are to hi res.
My mistake when I started was not having a good plan for dumping the dirt. It seemed to grow like popcorn as I dug into the bank.
Go slow, be careful, and enjoy the results.
One additional note check the threads out about ballast boxes and overloading your FEL.

Just wondering if anyone has done any light digging with their tractor without ill effect?

I have a driveway a few hundred meters long with some slippage on the banks next to the road. It looks loose enough to me but being a newbie, I'm not sure if this is something a bucket could hande.

I'll be getting a 50hp with a 4in1 and the standard loader - AL43. Is this a big no-no or is some light "digging" acceptable?

You're kidding? right

No. All the dealers I've spoken to, have a sharp intake of breath and tell you to buy a Bobcat if you want to dig. Apparently, damage is done when hitting rocks on one side.

I know people do use them for light digging but I was wondering how commonplace this is and what experience people had - which brings up another point. Would this affect a warranty?

Digging, what can I say, yes tractors will dig, They will dig out stumps, and rocks and dig down whole hillsides.. It just takes time and common sense.. can you tear something up? sure, just work smart not stupid. I have dug up many stumps and rocks, and once took the top of of a hillside and moved it about 100 yards to build a shooting berm. Took a while, but it is doable.
I have dug shallow ditches with my Front End Loader plenty of times. It takes coordination and practice but you can dig a long trench 12 to18 inches deep 5 to 6 foot at a time with nothing but your bucket on the FEL. It is easier with a hydrostat tractor than a gear model, but still doable with gear. You can also build a little chain on "shovel" like I did for my FEL to assist you in your digging in a more concentrated area. Good Luck and happy digging:thumbsup:
