Can I ask u, how does that ceiling heater work.??
Do u wish u went bigger.??
Do u have to turn it on and come back in an hour before you start.??
I’ve seen them advertised in the Northern Tool catalog..
By chance do you know the specs or the mdl number off the top of your head.??

Re: modine heaters, the garage part has 2. They throw some serious heat.

Oil heat. I could leave each of the 20x10 foot bay doors open and not change the temp much.

Frankly, one would have been sufficient

So the main motor control/contact was shot. I got a quote for 1300$ for the 20hp 3 ph 600v (I forget the amps) contact and also a smaller table lower 220v 1ph contact at 1700$!
That is more than the machine.

So, time to take it apart
Burnt contacts, some melted to the point the pads had fallen off




So, sweat the points off.


Grind and sand via jig





Re-silver solder 56%


Working well, now to do the 220/1ph contact

I’ve got a 3 phase contactor I pulled from a metal cutting band saw I rebuilt. If you can use it I’d send it to you.

I replaced it with a VFD and have speed control and automated lights and coolant pump.

What is the voltage of the system, how many HP is the motor, 3 phase or single phase? Does the starter have the old style thermal overloads? It looks like an older style IEC contactor. Should be able to find a Schneider or other brand IEC contactor that isn't $1700.00. Yeah, those contacts look beyond salvageable.
