New BX2380 thoughts

Hey folks, another old timer that’s been away a while. I currently have a 2350 made around 2005, and it’s starting to show its age a bit. Considering a new model as I retire.

Do the new ones have all the diesel emission controls, such as DEF?

I had a quote for tractor, loader, mower for 21k. Sticker shocked a bit, but if anyone has opinions, love to hear them…

Tractors above 25 horsepower will have a DPF or diesel particulate filter. Those below 25 are not required to - YET.

Stricter Tier IV off-road diesel engine emission reduction standards phased in dealer tractor inventory during 2009 - 2012, impacting tractor prices.

Tier IV emission standards require tractor manufacturers to add or revise pollution reduction technology on new tractors generating over 19 kW power = 25.4794 horsepower.

A Diesel Particular Filter (DPF) is used by the majority of tractor manufactures for final stage emissions control on tractors generating over the 25.4794 horsepower threshold.

The smog and cancer causing particulates emitted by a Tier IV technology tractor are about 1% of the particulates emitted by a pre-Tier IV tractor.

In a "normal" year for tractor sales, 300,000 new tractors are sold in the USA.

"Starting to show age a bit" seems subjective. Does this mean not new & shiny anymore or potentially expensive repairs are coming? 2005 is not really old for a lightly used, but well maintained tractor, IMO.

I agree that new prices are shocking.

It's basically the same as your current tractor just some updates and creature comforts added. Engine and emissions are the same as yours

The 2350 had a lot of plastic…it’s getting brittle and breaking… the cowl needs replacing since the plastic that holds the cowl to the tractor broke off. The platform floor is rusting… apparently salt got under the rubber floor mat. I found a crack in one of the 2 rubber boots that is on the steering Ram, so it’ll need replacing. It’s things like that. Yes, I can buy replacements, most likely will. The tractor runs well, I’ve maintained it well mechanically.

Just wanted to see what the new one positives/negatives are…

If it is just minor fixable stuff, I don't see that it's worth spending $21k to get a new version of the same tractor. If you had a particular need to upgrade, it might make more sense.

I was shopping for a BX2380 in summer of 2020. Even though it's a few states away I contacted Barlow in Kentucky.
I wanted turf tires and a 60 inch MMM. Was going to buy new until Brady asked me if I'd consider used. He had a 23 hour unit on his lot set up just the way I wanted. We made a deal for it. Then I decided I'd be sorry without a loader so I paid up front and had them install that. Even with a $595 (cheap!) delivery charge I was still all in at $13,400. Glad I made the move when I did. Saved thousands over the locals that acted like they didn't care if they sold me a tractor or not.

2018 Kubota BX2380 subcompact tractor 4WD , 3 cyl diesel, excellent condition barley used only 61 hours “like new” , 54” mid mount mowing deck , hard top removable cab with heater , 50” snowblower attachment , turf tires asking $16,500
There are several pictures in the ad. The only downside that I see is no loader. Pretty sure I know the seller, I think I did a job on his home a couple of seasons ago.
