Good question. All I can say is that I've never had more thoughts of murdering someone, than almost every time I get stuck behind a slow Wrangler driver. I wouldn't be surprised if grandmoms in Buicks were a faster population, as a whole.
Have you seen the MPG on these things ? maybe you would be driving slow as well if you have one 😆 :ROFLMAO:

lol... I've actually owned a 1950's CJ-3A, and at the same time my sister owned a 1993ish Sahara. A few years after that, my brother bought a 1996ish base Wrangler, which I used to drive a lot.

They're great off-road vehicles, even around-town, which is how we used mostly them. But they just don't belong on highways, or really almost any road with a speed limit much over 35 mph.

ha I see ... is the the wranglers the problem or the people who drives them ??

Jeeps have been very hurting in sales lately they are in the top 10 least sold vehicle of the last few years.
I have a 2018 Grand Cherokee and won't buy another. I'm disappointed with it.

Man I see Jeeps everywhere. We just sold ours after ~5 years and loved it. My son took it over and simply outgrew it. Needed a pickup more than a Jeep.
Never felt slow to me. In fact, ours was a little rocket off the line.

There’s nothing slow about a Wrangler. In fact my V6 Wrangler is far peppier than many trucks and cars I’ve owned.

Yeah, IDK what they’re referring to. Jeeps are very common in my area.

I was at the dealer getting our car serviced today. I looked at the F150s, F250s, and Broncos. I sat there for a bit and specked out a build on Ford's site using my phone. STX 4x4 5.0 supercab... add 3.73 elocker and max tow. check Then I tried to change to the lower STX trim package without as many gadgets and 20" wheels I don't want, and it removed the 5.0 and put a 2.7. It also removed the elocker and max tow and changed the rear end ratio. So it appears I am forced to go to an xlt to order anything similar to what I currently have. I am also forced to get 20" wheels and less capability if I order an STX. This is why I have major problems with the new trucks. I can't even order what I want without compromise. I gave up on the STX when it hit $52k. I did not even bother to try an XLT. AT that price I should be able to get exactly what I want an not be forced to step up to an XLT.

A relative worked for 20 years on the air ambulance. He said that his biggest customers were bikers. Second biggest was Jeep riders. That's what happens when you take an off-road vehicle and turn it into a status symbol for people who don't care to learn how to drive it.

I looked at the Roxor, but am not sure if I could make it road worthy. Also not sure if I want the diesel.

apparently you can make them street legal pretty easily.... they sell the flasher kit as a options.

That depends on where you live. Checked into that a while back and nope, State of Nevada will not allow those on a State highway just because you added a flasher/turn signal kit and horn, no more than they will a side by side. Off-highway only.

I spend a lot of time in Utah and Arizona and I've seen side by sides driving the streets with regular automotive license plates on them. But not in Nevada.

Also, when people modify the suspension so the vehicle becomes tippy.

yeah, the V6 ones are pretty peppy around town, the and the SRT 392 my bought his wife a few years ago is just insane. But those are a thin minority of all the Jeeps on the road, and even those are absolutely terrible on highways.

I love Wranglers in their proper place, and I've even thought of picking up another for myself and the teens to use for local errands, strickly around-town driving.

I just hate when I get stuck behind one on any road in which I know traffic would otherwise be moving much faster. They're definitely not built for highway performance.

When we bought ours in 2020, I thought the 2L turbo was more zippy than the old 6 cylinder.
I don’t know who thinks newer Jeeps are slow. They are not. Maybe it’s the driver you are behind, not the car.
They do have reduced ride quality/handling over 70. Is that what you mean? Off the line they are quick. Cruising 85 on the PA Turnpike for extended drives is not in their wheelhouse.

You don’t have experience with the current JLU Wranglers. Most of my driving is interstate travel at 80 mph. Nobody is waiting on me holding up traffic. And most of the poor handling issues at highway speeds is due to owner modifications to suspensions, wheels, tires….

I saw last night that 2027 model year brings back the Dodge Dakota, with gas and plug in hybrid versions. They didnt say anything about what engine. I think the 3.6L would be functional and balanced for the mid sized, but if they shoe-horn in a 5.7L or the 3.0TT, that would be a sporty truck

I dont think the 2.2l diesel really makes a lot of sense for the general public, but maybe if they are targeting fleet sales? 200 hp and 332 ft/# wouldn't be bad for fleet vehicles?

The small diesel phase is pretty much over. The EPA regs just make them to unreliable and un-robust for the typical small truck owner. They also are cost prohibitive.
The only small diesel that still seems to be appealing is the small Duramax.

I think we have said nearly the same thing! :ROFLMAO:

I've ridden in a buddy's 2022'ish Rubicon 392 470 hp Wrangler, which was just rediculous, but all those that I owned and drove were older. My siblings and I have owned one with the 4.0L 6-cylinder (1994'ish) one Buick V6 conversion (my CJ-3A), and one I4 (1996'ish). All of ours were plenty peppy off the line and around town, but were downright terrifying at my normal PA Turnpike speeds.

But it's following Wranglers on the road every day that caused me to form this opinion, much more than any I've personally driven. So as stated, maybe its the drivers more than the vehicle. All I know is that I will just about kill us all, to ensure I never end up behind one. For nearly every time I come up behind someone driving below the speed limit in one of those canvas boxes on wheels, I regret it. :p

I think its because they are noisy inside at highway+ speeds. Expecially the soft tops. So on freeways people drive them a bit slower
