Great deals do dis-appear quickly. Hard to blame the dealer for selling it to someone else. They have to keep stock moving to stay in business. Act quickly, go with your gut feeling next time you see something you like. Remember, everyone has an opinion, yours is the only one that counts.

Well dealer I was negotiating with sold it out from under me...so maybe I need to think on it more.
Tough luck. It looked like a good deal. :(

I usually leave a deposit with the dealer for a possible high price future purchase.
Most are willing to hold the item for a period of time. The amount, timeframe and refundability are usually negotiable.

I went from a 37 hp open station tractor and a 6 foot cutter to a 70 hp cab tractor and a 12 foot batwing 3 years ago. I expected it to be nicer and able to get more done, but I'm still in shock and how much more I get done in so much less time.

The more HP allows me to mow faster. The cab allows me to mow when it's too hot to do anything else on the farm. Usually I start mowing around 3 or 4 pm, when temps are getting close to 100 outside and the humidity makes it hard to breath. After a few hours in the cab, I'm relaxed and feeling good.

Instead of mowing all of my land once a year, and the area around the pond more often, I'm able to do all my land three times a year. The weeds are decreasing significantly, and the grass is taking over without having to use chemicals.

My biggest challenge is with the trees hitting my mirrors. I swear that they move their branches when I get close to them to mess with me!!!!

Another thing that I wasn't expecting with the cab was how much I could get done in Winter. I take the batwing off once the temps cool and the grass stops growing. Then I put on my rear ballast and the front bucket. I move dirt to all my ditches, holes and trouble areas in the heated cab while listening to the radio. It might be just an hour, or I might spend several hours doing this. Even when it's wet outside, I can still get things done. Right now, I'm actually looking forward to doing this because I have a list of areas that I want to build up, smooth out and make nicer that I discovered while mowing this year. I'll wait until it gets cold and nasty out to do this because when summer ends, it's really super nice here, and that's when I'll get the most done on my projects around the house.

Don't try and negotiate on a good price, someone else will end up buying it. I thought it was a very good price compared to new price...

It's like seeing a good price on Crais's list and coming to TBN to ask if it's a good deal... too late, just sold!!! Got to know prices before shopping!

Yeah, I guess its just my inexperience with tractor buying. We just got through buying my wife a new SUV a few months ago, and that was much more methodical and slow. Negotiating with several dealers, etc. I just didn't anticipate how quickly tractors move. Also, being so new at it, I was a little nervous about buying it sight unseen (an hr drive way, couldn't get off work to go look at it. Was going to go today).

We were texting back and forth at like 4PM on pricing, and at 4:30 he said "Sold it." I can't take it personally, I know he's in business and a check/deposit in hand is the name of the game. Apparently they are the place around here that buys/sells used tractors all the time. I've since found out that all of the dealerships around here use them to buy their trades. So it's my fault for not being quicker on the trigger.

Thank you for the input! That is what I'm thinking.

In the beginning with my 4701, I was a hopeless romantic. Wind in my hair, smell of the breeze, tractor life is great. But after a few years of mowing in July and having to sit for 6 hours in the sun with a dust mask on and ear buds, I'm kinda over the romanticism now. Ready to be in the climate controlled environment.
