thanks RNG. I use my cell phone for nothing but phone calls and unlikely to change that.
I see folks going through McDonalds swiping their phones here and there and it all seems to hackable to me.
I spend 7 years as general manager of a public records company, collecting data on folks, and it made me very sensitive to anyone
who wants to get in my info pants... until recently I used to print out bill checks on separate pc not connected to internet.
Had to change, hope Wells Fargo isn't hacked, now use online bill pay like most others.

Buckeye, we will agree to disagree. You are a lot more trusting than I am.

Cylinder is basically reassembled, all I need to do is tighten up the gland nut. Just waiting for my repair to the adjustable pin spammer wrench to cool off a little ...

Yesterday I cleaned out the cylinder body with spray carb cleaner and then took a paper towel wetted with hydraulic fluid and wiped down the inside to prevent the formation of any rust.

(Found out that things can be very prone to flash rusting when I took the piston/seal assembly out of the freezer)

The cylinder body has a taper built into it, which served as a conforming jig. Once I had worked the first wear ring past that the entire rod basically just dropped in (but not literally - I had ahold of it)

I managed to snap off the 1/8” pin on the spammer wrench while trying to loosen the gland nut on the second curl cylinder. To repair it I filed the point of the break off flat, then hit it with a center punch and drilled it out to form a little recess. Then I cut a short section off an old bent 5/32 drill in the bandsaw and welded that on.

The wrench appears to be cast ... dunno whether it’s steel or iron but I’d guess steel ... so we’ll see ...

I’m not trusting, that’s why I point out more secure methods. Just trying to help you stay more secure.

Buckeye is right you do not need to give Apple your CC number. If I need money to buy apps or books from the App Store I just load in an Apple gift card that I buy at a discount from Costco.

Last week I filled up with gas in Hutto Tx and there were 2 motorcycles dudes and a Dudet, the other side of the pump before I got there and after I left, I had an uneasy feeling. 3 days later a credit card with my number was being used in Hutto. The credit card company quickly caught the fraud and canceled the card.

Lot of tricksters out there. My credit card got hacked at a gas pump when someone had installed some kind of reader on it.
Have had to cancel credit cards maybe six times so far, never a penny out of pocket.
You get a call saying Mr Augenblick, may we assume you are not in Tallahassee Florida and just ate at Denny's? No ma'am.
That's what we thought, charge cancelled and replacement card coming to you.

for every security measure, there is someone trying to hack it. I appreciate your concern Buckeye, not trying to be unappreciative. Just on a gut level
I have my concerns. Lot of crooks out there and cybercrime is everywhere.

I don't suppose anyone has heard from Mollala, I know he was going in for back surgery. Just wondering how he's doing. We're real close to the same age and I have a lot of respect for him and his service to our country.

I think his surgery was on June 11th.

Jim,

I haven't seen him post anything lately ...

Menards order placed and ready for pick up.

Curl cylinder reinstalled and operating properly ...

Repair to the spanner wrench seems to be holding up thus far ... which kind of surprises me.

Big test will be when I go to loosen the gland nut on the other curl cylinder.

Have to remember: keep tension on the wrench so it doesn't bounce, use small taps and plenty of heat.

Just sent him a PM to see how he's doing. Surgery was on 6/11.

You replied while I was typing my reply to Jim ... ;)

I couldn't recall when exactly he said it was ... hopefully you'll hear something back soon and let us all know ...

Good evening all. 75F for the start, partly cloudy, light breeze. More wind today, more clouds rain start 7 PM. Low temp during rain, was 68F and high for the day was 93F. Bike ride this morning, puttered while wife napped, then verified vent valve bad on chainsaw and got it on order. Tried to get update date on Volagi, but no call back. 2 hour nap messed with evening events. Dinner took 1.5 hours instead of 30-40 minute. Getting anything done today like pulling teeth :confused2:
Covid update. Cooke unchanged, Montague up to 12 confirmed cases, 3 active, Grayson 511 confirmed cases active 107, now 5 deaths total.

Impala A/C is blowing cold enough to be comfortable on a 90 degree day. Well enough for now. Waiting for dye to show leak.

I did a much needed cleaning on my 55 gallon aquarium today while it was so hot and humid outside. Will need to clean the filters out again tomorrow. Already looks so much clearer. I want to buy some more angel fish. I'm down to my last one. He/She is at least 3, probably 5 years old. Very tame, will swim to whichever side you peer in. Like a hungry cat following you to the food bowl.

Went to Pet Smart, but they were out of angel fish. Due to virus, they have very limited offerings on a lot of pets. The only mammals they had were mice for sale. I did see one huge cockroach running across the floor. I smashed it before I could see if it had a price tag on it or not....then quickly walked to another aisle.

Hope Mollala's surgery went well.

You did the right thing, Kyle. That could have been an escaped exotic for all we know...:laughing::laughing:

66 right now...high in the mid-80's and possible thunderstorms the afternoon...
Chores today: Dump run...hopefully get that de-limbing and chipping I've been writing about for a couple weeks.
I also have a rifle to pick up (Ruger American in .300BLK) if time permits.
Also! If my neighbor's son makes it, at least move that treadmill base in to the house (in the garage now).
Let's see how much of this I actually accomplish (other then the dump run...that's mandatory)
