Good morning!!!!

Good Morning!!!! 78F @ 7:00AM. Sunny. High near 100F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Seems like you're better off than in the hospital, Drew, but you're still not a free man. But I can understand the CV19 precautions; just be glad you weren't in NYC when they brought CV19 patients into nursing homes. Could you order good food and have it delivered? Same with a grocery store, if you have a hot plate and a 'fridge. I admire your attitude, I'm not sure I'd be as tolerant of the restrictions, especially considering the high cost. FWIW, I'm still running my old iPhone SE, and have several banking apps on it, all of which I can use to deposit checks. Seeing that tiny screen and poking those tiny buttons is another matter, but I still managed to setup a new account at Bevmo with it yesterday. Last time I went there they were only fulfilling orders placed in advance. Wouldn't you know it, this time I had to walk inside the store to pickup my order.:confused2:

I keep hearing radio commercials for Dinovite on my way to and from town, Billy. Coco's symptoms sound pretty much like what they claim the stuff cures. Hope they can figure out what's wrong, and she's back to her old self in no time.

I've been OK with Messick's service, but I've never gotten a tracking number from them, in spite of asking for it every time. Delivery is usually less than a week, unless they don't have the part in stock, then it can take two full weeks before they even ship. Finding the parts ordering portion of their web site can be a bit of a challenge, too.

Nice back lighting on that hummer, Ron. You can even see the nectar drops on his bill! Right now, the old Kubota is sitting next to the last open trench with a bucket full of sifted dirt, just waiting for me to go out there and dump it. Got the parts I needed to cap off the unused 1" conduit in that trench, so that's probably how I'll start the day today.

I almost picked up one of those stump buckets on my last Oregon trip, Rick. I thought I could maybe get a deal on a used one, but they only had new and I wasn't sure it would work for me, so I passed. I was also a bit leery of how well the SSQA would hold up to what could be considered some pretty abusive treatment. Let us know how it goes with your stumps, OK?

Sorry to hear about not working from home, Rich, but glad the racing is back on. It will be interesting what in terms of social distancing will be in place at both locations.

I was very fortunate that Rebecca let me crash at their place back December before last, Kyle, but she's a bit of a psycho and married. Don't need that kind of trouble, eh? I've slowly been accumulating the necessary tools and supplies so I can replace the A/C compressor in the van. Ended up with a set of these manifold gauges, but won't know how well they work for a while yet.

The battery bank is rated at 25kWhr or 505 Amp hours. Size was selected to be enough to power the well pumps for two hours at 100% duty cycle. Don't know how long they'll last running the home A/C, but once I have access to and understand the Mate3 better, I intend to find out. The project lead has talked to the owner of API, who pretty much dismissed my concerns over battery life vs. age. Left us with the impression that business is so good, and he thinks his product is so superior, that he really doesn't need my business. OTOH, the lead electrician seems to have a pretty deep understanding of the SOC vs voltage situation; just need to pry it out of him. And of course they're all busy, so it's likely to take some time. I set up an account on OpticsRE and have used it to look at their demos. Pretty impressed with the thoroughness of what I see up there. Now I just need to spend some time learning the Mate3 and thinking about my use cases (summer fire season vs winter low solar panel output) and how the configuration should be set for the two almost diametrically opposed priorities. I understand you've installed multiple utility type meters in your system; the only one here sits between me and the utility, and it's one of those "smart" meters. I don't know how it handles power being sold back to the utility, so there's more homework there, too. Now I'll have an excuse to stay inside during the next week of 100F+ temps in the afternoons.

Busted the Levolor vertical blind over the garage sliding door last week, so took it down yesterday with the thought of running it in to HD to order a replacement. Turns out it's the same size as the one in the master bedroom, and I've been thinking about motorizing that one. So, I found a Hunter dealer in town and dropped by yesterday to see if he could make a recommendation, and hope to hear back today. Once delivered, I'll move the one in the master bedroom out to the garage and use the fancy one from bed. The controls will be HomeKit compatible, and I'm hoping I'll be able to open and close them using the iPhone or MacBook Pros...

Also picked up the Cat2 top link and draw pins I needed, but didn't make the junk yard. It was too late in the day and too hot by the time I got to that. In consolation, I did find a bottle of Laphroaig at Costco that had been triple aged in three different kinds of wood, and it was yummy!:cloud9:

TGIF gang!:drink:

Do you have a APP on your phone for your Bank. Should be able to take a picture of check and deposit it.

I wonder if there isn't a way to mail in your deposit? I wouldn't want to send cash through the mail but checks can be marked "for deposit only". I'm not so sure about all this digital stuff.

I think the simplest way is to ask my friend to go though drive through banking, with my deposit card and my checks all endorsed for deposit only.
Sometimes the simplest is the best and this way she doesn't have to go inside bank

found out the problem on my phone was I never joined/signed up with Apple. Trying not to get too many connections with big data sharing companies

Been sitting outside in law chair as I run some tests. Partly cloudy, nice breeze, humid.
Interesting watching the birds work. One grabbed a long dead flower leaf from the yard, and flew off. Don’t know how it flew with that thing dangling from it. I turned directions to watch, they won’t come back. They sit in blue spruce squawking at me.
My redbud tree is dying. It split, probably from ice last winter. IMG_5056.JPG

Good afternoon all. 70 here this morning and 82 with bright sunshine right now.

Happy Birthday to Ron

Safe travels to hospital and back home for Sodamo and wife. Praying for a successful operation!

Hang in there Drew. If each day is only a little better than the last the progress will add up quickly .

Still waiting to here from Jay and now Bird

Enjoy the weekend.

That's the only way I've ever done it, if I wasn't going to my bank in person.

Happy Birthday Ron. Hope you get to spend some time with your family this weekend.

Prayers for Sophie's op tomorrow.

Good news on the Mom home front, she now has a NP that makes house calls during her home PT and the NP will continue after the 4-8 weeks of PT. This will make it easier for her to stay put longer especially during these covid times.

Good news Don.

Any improvement on the food?
in quantity, yes. I got three hard boiled eggs this morning instead of one.
If I get out of here without a stent put in I'll be lucky. Everything is high fat, high salt, and you'd think they'd have a dietician
making suggestions on healthy food I can eat within my diet. Nope...
So I ask for extra vegetables, which I don't get, I bet if I weighed the little pile I get it would be one ounce.
Fine for little old ladies, not fine for me. I dream of a mound of fresh cooked beans...
And remember going out to the garden, picking all those beans and cooking them up that night. Simply marvelous.
Well, two months of this won't kill me but I repeat seriously count-intuitive for folks trying to heal/get healthy by feeding them
unhealthy food. But this is the South and they are stuck in their ways, comfort food all the way.

I sucked it up and put out a plea to ladies in Garden Club to see if they would bring me some healthy home cooked food.
If that works out, I'll be a super happy camper. We are what we eat, just ask Don, and it pains me to eat stuff I know isn't good for me.

We need to sneak Drew a cake with some hacksaw blades in it. Vegetarian cake of course.

Rich, our company ended work from home at the start of June. Due to the spike in covid in the last week, they have implemented mandatory mask while away from your desk, or if someone comes to talk to you at your desk. Which is exactly what I've been doing the whole time.

RNG, as long as you realize that women are right, 100% of the time, you will simplify your life 10 orders of magnitude.

Those are really nice gage sets. Mine need new orings, valve seats, and well, pretty much everything. BTW, Ted has you pegged. :)

Thanks RS. Looked up a kit to overhaul the AC, with a new condenser, compressor, and dryer, about $250

Hope Coco gets better day by day Billy. Man's best friend. Maybe something to that Dinovite stuff.

Roy, glad you're on the good side of feeling well.

I woke up at 3:45am, itching all over....like I had run into a spider's web (I get super itchy when I do). Started scratching around and found a whelp on the side of my knee. Looked for spider, but found nothing. Took some benadryl, rubbed some hydrocortisone cream on whelp. Went back to bed. There was no way I was going to wake up in time for work. Texted my boss, and he said I could get my homework done from home....(CNC programming).

Don and Rick, I was talking to a co-worker about tree trimming, and he said that Diablo makes a blade for a reciprocating saw that works really well for low stuff. He said he uses it on all the yaupons on his place because he can get them cut off flush with the ground. I looked them up, and they have carbide teeth!!! Woohoo.

They actually have a video showing that its OK to plunge them into the dirt.

Happy Birthday, Ron.
Good luck tomorrow, Sodomo.

Having internet issues...will be spotty for a week or so.

Hope all have a good day today. And a great weekend. Happy Father's day in advance to most all of you. Enjoy the day.

Best wishes for Sophie tomorrow.
Ron, happy birthday, many more to come

first batch of home cooked food coming tomorrow. yeah.

slept a bit this afternoon, feeling tired, to be expected. Did get to walk a bit outside, while someone cleaned room.
I went right after them and wiped the room down again...

my internet was funky also this morning. Had to switch back and forth between inhouse and my Verizon mifi, which also seem confused for awhile. But after rebooting computer, all came back

Yep, you need to register the phone with Apple in order to access the App Store. Pretty sure that involves giving them a credit card number for purchases there, even though you need never download anything that costs money. All of the apps I use are free except one or two, which I think were less than five bux each. As long as Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, holds his current support for very stringent security, I'm comfortable putting my data on their servers. It's encrypted before it leaves the phone/computer, and no one but me can access it. Not even Apple. Of course there are rumors that certain three letter agencies have broken in, but I haven't seen any concrete proof.

Since you have no access to the app store, I would guess you haven't updated the OS on the phone, either. That leaves you vulnerable to many online hacks that take advantage of flaws in both the OS and the apps that run on it. But if you don't use the phone for banking, making emails and calls from your contacts list, or keeping sensitive info in notes or in any of the apps, you don't have much to worry about.

If your gauge set is from one of the major manufacturers, you can probably get a rebuild kit for small money.

Ted is always right, Kyle.

Unlike most of the women I've been in relationships with. Which is why I'm single.:confused3:

Just another account name and password. You don’t need to give cc. I must have over 100 such accounts now, what’s one more.
I use my iPhone to hold my passwords for my accounts. Probably the most secure way to store them.
