Good morning!!!!

Poured first cup of hot coffee. 24° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 35° with cloudy skies and chance of snow in morning hours. Got about 2" of snow. 1" on walkways. Hard to tell wind has been blowing all night. Clean walkways put some ice melt on them. Then wait for furnace guy to come and put new valve in. No other plans.
I new it would not take long. My son wants a different model drone. I will be buying his old one. That only has 5 hours of flying time. DJI Mavic Air 2.
weather did not stop birds from coming to feeders.

Phil, your older bricks look like my 25 year old bricks.

Don, your garden looks great. I was filling bird feeders Sunday. I am still using the 3 gallon buckets you gave me that had polymer for paver joints. Much easier to carry two 3 gallons buckets than one 5 gallon bucket.

Drew, hope the guy gets your generator hooked up in a short time.

Mostly, I am sure it was the Crane. I do have hair that matches it feather colors.

Riptides, great fog picture.

Looking, always one that wants it done their way.

RNG, i can imagine the oil mess removing the pan. If I was doing that Job. I would need to burn the clothes I was wearing.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

Yep, never met a chocolate chip cookie that I didn't like. Makes no difference to me whether it's the crisp or soft texture.

30°F and windy this morning with some moderate (and unexpected) snow flurries, going up to 37° today. We had nice temperatures here all weekend, in the low 50s every day. Looks like those days are behind us now.

Had a delicious Thanksgiving meal Thursday, just The Wife and I, her youngest son and his girlfriend, and her brother. Her brother came Wednesday night, and spent the weekend with us, leaving Sunday morning. I've eaten a lot of turkey in the last four days, and I'm not tired of it yet. Love turkey.

In spite of some tremendously trying back pain (which hasn't been this bad in many years), I did get a few things accomplished during my four days off from work. Did a thorough cleaning of the chicken coop, and did some repair work on the barn door. Found one of the hens laying dead in the coop yesterday. No evidence of any trauma.

Checked our internet speed on fast.com, and found it the first time to be 1.4 mbs on Saturday night, and 3.0 mbs Sunday morning. HughesNet claims "up to" 25 mbs ... we're clearly not getting anywhere near that.
By way of comparison, we get 140 mbs at work.

Walked outside Saturday evening to see the lights flickering on the F-150, the radio was on, and it was trying to start itself. The keys were hanging on the hook in the laundry room. It was a Christine moment. Disconnected the battery to get it to stop. Going to take it to the local Ford dealer and get it fixed, again, and trade it for something else. Done with that thing.

Hope your back gets better. Ibuprofen works for me. We need to clean out coop too.

Lost power for 2 hours here and rain was forming rivers and washing over my driveway.
My oversized swale by the pool held up fine, at the end where it disperses down hill was about 20 feet wide with running water.

Saw the tornado and flood warnings. But calm here right now.

 Glad it missed you.

Heading for a record freeze for tomorrow morning on Dec 1. Now 28˚F
The sourdough bread was ready to try out today's from tree to jar Meyer lemon marmalade. Turned out delicious.

Looks good.

Have a great day all.

Prayers, especially for our country.

31 degrees forecast yesterday for today, but now the NWS says it's actually 20 degrees, but going for a sunny and calm 57 today.

40 and clear here. Got 1.87 inches of rain according to weather station. Never really got big winds out of the system. High wind was under 30kts.
Significant wind damage not far from here though. NWS is investigating possible tornado.
Power went out briefly, generator came on line just like it’s supposed to.
Looks like tarp on mower held up fine.

Awesome picture in the fog riptides, definitely suitable for framing.

Buckeye, what brand geo heat pump did you get, and what is it replacing? I’m on my third one. First was a Carrier, lasted over 20 years, followed by a Florida Heat Pump / Bosch, that didn’t make ten years. Now have a Climate Master which seems to be better made than the first two, have to see how long it lasts.

It’s way too soupy outside to get anything done, so I’ll have to go back to cleaning up and doing paperwork.

36 going to 47...flurries a few miles away moving in this direction. More big winds forecasted today. Feels like December.

Got 1.2 inches of rain from the storm yesterday. The far area of the frisbee field is flooded...I call it Lake Coco. A red-tail hawk landed on a fence post about 20 yards away yesterday afternoon when I went to check it out the flood.

Pop, we started with a Carrier geo, too, in 1998, and replaced it with a Climate Master Tranquility 27 in 2011...working well.

Good morning all, 32 going up to 47, got walloped with rain last night and tornado warnings, witch luckily did not turn into anything bad here.
Xmas lights out by pool went out, guess water got high enough on lawn to trip GFI? wasn;t going to stand in water to find out!

Hope you all made it through ok.
Drew - hope your generator gets done soon so you don;t have to worry about sump pumps etc.
L4N - can't believe people would complain on good decent free service.
Phil - how do you keep between the pavers so clean? Path looks pretty level still-not bad at all

Good morning! Tying Bird this morning with a record setting coldest Temperature in central Texas for a December 1st at 20˚F. Heavy frost. Clear skies heading to the 50s.
Phil, good job on matching the paver sections. I used paver sand in-between my pavers and it still had weeds even though it hardened like cement.
Morning FireWise canceled and Park cedercide changed to afternoon hours.

Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 5:45AM. Sunny. High near 65F. Winds light and variable.
Still no rain in the 10-day...

Always had weeds growing in the paver cracks back when I had them, Phil. Maybe try some RM45 preemergent on 'em when you get done with the sand?

That's supposed to be a really nice drone, Ron. Looking forward to your photos/videos from it. What's your son getting?

That's some fast work on the marmalade, Don.

Never got anywhere near the advertised speed out of any of the satellite internet providers I've used, Paul. Testing just now at fast.com:
HughesNet: 3.1 MBPS down, 1.2 up, 1.2 seconds latency loaded
T-Mobile LTE: 4.6 MBPS down, 1.6 up, 276 ms latency loaded
T-Mobile is a bit better, but not $50/month better. Still waiting on the email with return instructions for their modem...
Maybe suggest to your ghost it take the Zturn out for some mowing action and leave the F150 alone?

Not good news on the shower pan, RS. Hopefully you can find a way to patch the crack and get a good finish on it. Maybe use some of that stuff people put on garage floors?

Found some pretty princely prices on shortened (for ground clearance) oil pans yesterday, and decided to order a new factory pan and some 4130 steel and go the DIY route. Also found a rear engine mount that'll work with the VW bar I've already got, too. Trying to combine the function of oil pan and engine mount into one piece just didn't "pan" out (sorry :D); too many bad design choices and the fabrication quality was lacking as well. There's a reason the original seller no longer offers that particular product.

Put the back of the van up on jack stands yesterday and got all the old silicon seal off the engine. With the front wheels on the ground, I'm hoping that'll let gear oil flow forward to the decoupler and show me where it's leaking. So more fun and games under the van today, too.

Always called a junco a snow bird not here yet

24°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 43° today.

Traffic in the area seems to be lighter than normal this week. Not sure what's up with that, but I don't hate it.

Wife just sent me a text message. She had a 09:30 appointment to get her oil changed at the Kia dealer, and they just told her it will be about an hour-and-a-half. Not sure why they bother calling it an appointment.

Funny you should mention the mower, RNG. I was just noting over the weekend that some of the grass has started to grow again during our recent stretch of mild weather, especially the onion grass.

I keep a spray bottle with Round-Up in it handy just for that purpose.

Yep, we always called them snow birds too. We had a saying down in Carolina, “Dumb as a snow bird”, because you could walk up to bush they were in and literally touch them it’s a BB gun barrel. No sport in shooting them, even at 8 years old.

45-49 today, ended up with just over an inch of rain and high winds never developed here. Gusts to about 30-35 a couple of times.

Cardiologist says I’m doing fine and that I’ve lost a lot of weight, go back in six months.

We bought Roku for the old 55” TV, and the kitchen TV, and ordered two new sets with Roku built in. I’m turning in cable boxes today.
With Roku and a couple of cheap subscriptions I can replace everything we watch, and Locast gives me local channels. I’m getting more choices for $50 less.

Have a good day.

Could be a good day to finish mowing. Trip to PO first.

29F @ 04:30, headed up to a high of 32F.

Two inches of the white stuff on the ground here with light snow still coming down.

Supposed to taper off and end later this afternoon ...

Now 2” of that stuff would really mess with my mowing.

How are you getting to locast? SmartTV or is Roku offering that now too?

Hard to stay on top of all the "cord cutter" options! LOL.

ken, it was the part time postie that complained to me.

Back from plowing and the aforementioned town run. We got about 4" so far.

Good morning to all! Low of 25, currently 45, but a continuous 25-30 mph wind with gusts to 45. Feels a lot colder.

Phil, nice looking walkway! Better than nice... more like fantastic!

Glad all you guys up in the NE and PA made it through the nasty weather... that was a lot of rain! Just think... it could have been snow!

I spent most of the day yesterday getting the Christmas decorations out of the garage loft and started putting up the lights. Unfortunately, two of the sets of lights (both the type that have multiple functions) only had half the bulbs working.... spent an hour and a half getting them working....
Then was able to get about half of the lights put up in place before it got too cold and dark. Despite the wind, I'm gonna hafta get the rest put up today... supposed to get snow tonight and tomorrow, highs only around 30.

I made a trip to Wally World this morning... at 6:15 am.... no line to get in.... only seniors. It was actually a decent shopping experience. I was able to get everything we needed, plus picked up some things for my son so he wouldn't have to wait over two hours in line again. By the time I came out at 7:15, there were two lines with about 40 people in each....

Need to run to the PO this afternoon, a few packages apparently don't fit into the local cluster boxes or there is not enough of them empty.... kind of a PIA to go wait in line there and make a 20 mile RT.... but better than having to go shopping in town for sure!

I have a bunch of the wood for the toy boxes all glued up, waiting to be planed, might have to wait until tomorrow.... still have to glue up 6 more wide planks

I am still procrastinating going out into the wind to do the lights.... I guess the light fairy won't come and do them for me.....

Everyone have a great day! Pics of Christmas lights to follow.....
