after a firm but pleasant email to electrician this morning saying either show up or cancel job, lo and behold the missing part
showed up on Saturday and he will be out to install generator interconnect tomorrow. Yea.
Also he is going to put some surface electrical receptacles in garage so I don't have to run machinery off extension cords, which we all know is a bad idea
and also to run wiring for garage door opener.
Oh happy days.

Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 6:15AM. Abundant sunshine. High 64F. Winds light and variable.
Still no rain in the 10-day and mild temps.

Always good to make a new friend, Drew/Paul.

It's sad to see customer service slip to the level it's reached in the past few years. Truly a lost art.:irked: Yes, CoVid has really messed things up, but now it's used as another excuse.

Great crane shot, Ron!

Glad it was a false alarm, Dftodd. That's awful late for a delivery, but I guess 'tis the season.

Spent yesterday afternoon under the VW, pulling off the leaking oil pan. A dozen of the screws holding it on were inside, accessed through a 6" port underneath. Had to pull the oil pickup to get to them, and oh what a mess even with the oil drained out. Very likely I'll replace that pan with a more conventional one, and go back to a conventional rear engine mount, too. Main reason is I found several of those interior screws were loose, not a good thing inside an engine.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

Back from the phlebotomist, soon I have to go to the cardiologist. Seems like life revolves around doctor’s appointments.
Rain has slowed way down, .93” so far. Wind is in a bit of a lull right now and 67°.

My wife called her Phlebotomist Count Dracula. She was good. Could not feel the blood being sucked out.

30°F and windy this morning with some moderate (and unexpected) snow flurries, going up to 37° today. We had nice temperatures here all weekend, in the low 50s every day. Looks like those days are behind us now.

Had a delicious Thanksgiving meal Thursday, just The Wife and I, her youngest son and his girlfriend, and her brother. Her brother came Wednesday night, and spent the weekend with us, leaving Sunday morning. I've eaten a lot of turkey in the last four days, and I'm not tired of it yet. Love turkey.

In spite of some tremendously trying back pain (which hasn't been this bad in many years), I did get a few things accomplished during my four days off from work. Did a thorough cleaning of the chicken coop, and did some repair work on the barn door. Found one of the hens laying dead in the coop yesterday. No evidence of any trauma.

Checked our internet speed on fast.com, and found it the first time to be 1.4 mbs on Saturday night, and 3.0 mbs Sunday morning. HughesNet claims "up to" 25 mbs ... we're clearly not getting anywhere near that.
By way of comparison, we get 140 mbs at work.

Walked outside Saturday evening to see the lights flickering on the F-150, the radio was on, and it was trying to start itself. The keys were hanging on the hook in the laundry room. It was a Christine moment. Disconnected the battery to get it to stop. Going to take it to the local Ford dealer and get it fixed, again, and trade it for something else. Done with that thing.

Eric, I’m guessing Kyle’s daughter’s new “friend” isn’t named Jesus.

39F and light rain @ 11:45 with a Winter Weather Advisory. High for the day was predicted to be 40F so this may be about it.

Got feeders refilled yesterday, squirrel feeder not cleaned out this morning ... Need to check on bowl of deer corn I set out and see whether they ate it or whether it's turning into soup.

Have spent a considerable amount of time watching YouTube's on tiling. Enough of Custom's Technical University stuff I almost feel like checking to see if the offer honorary degrees ...

About 15 years ago I laid some floor tile in the basement and it turned out pretty decent and has held up well (no loose tiles yet) Kinda surprised that it did ... since I had no previous experience with laying tile and don't remember doing all that much research on it before I dove into it.

This project is a little more involved being it involves a tiling a wall and floor which is on wood ... so I'm inclined to be a little more deliberate. There definitely is something there to know to do the job properly.

My shopping cart at the Depot has a bunch of items in it but I still haven't pulled the trigger as there are several things left to add. Hopefully pull the trigger on that today. Now that Menards has killed the 11% rebates, less motivation to go there ... particularly since any one of the three are a good bit further away than the Depot.

It is somewhat maddening that these big box stores don't carry a full line of a companies products. Example: Custom Building Products recommends using, and offers, a 6" alkali-resistant fiberglass tape for joints and changes in plane when using their RedGuard waterproofing membrane. You'd think Home Depot would carry it ... or at least carry a comparable product in store.

Nooo ...

Fortunately, they do offer a comparable product ... but it has to be "Shipped to Store" ... :confused2:

I did manage to get a couple of items ordered from Amazon for the bathroom: a Redi Tile niche and a Goof Proof Shower Seat kit - both plastic products that provide a base to tile over. Should be here later this week.

Also had to cancel the digital to analog converter for the tv - it went from a delivery date of yesterday to one sometime late in December ... product now shows "Currently Unavailable" ... :confused2: Reordered another one of the model we had previously ... hope it lasts longer this time around.

Got more of the attic insulation that had fallen down in the enclosed area over the stairwell to the basement cleaned up while I have the shower walls removed. Looks like the initial insulation (roll fiberglass) was installed between the ceiling joists by stapling up card board channels between the joists and then laying the insulation in. The staple job failed over time ... probably as more insulation (blown cellulose) was added over time.

Also got the ceiling drywall in the shower removed. Light fixture was just resting on top of it ... not secured to anything, and probably not wet/damp location rated ... will replace. The ceiling framing left something something to be desired as well ... so I'll need to do a little work on that.

And during the clean up I found a 10" or 12" long crack in the shower pan ... which wasn't a welcome discovery. It didn't look all that big in terms of spread, wasn't on an edge ... will need to evaluate that further ... hopefully can be epoxied and patched.

Nothing specifically agenda except for scheduling some bills to be paid until I consult with The Woman.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...
