electrician is done and did a nice job. Nice to have outlets in garage for my woodworking and not have to use extension cords.
Now if I can only find someone to install the garage door opener, my calls remain unanswered.
70 amp gen powering 50 amp circuit, only thing not powered is electric hot water heater, which was largest consumer other than electric range.

Having the house ready to accept the auxiliary power and having the generator to supply it does give a body some peace of mind, doesn’t it Drew? Sounds like you have taken the appropriate steps to insure your comfort! Congratulations.

Frank

Wish I was closer Drew. I've put in a dozen or so door openers for myself and family. It's not really that bad of a job if you have basic tools. As long as power is already there. If not I've done that too. Good luck in your search.

LS, You do realize that if you had done the Christmas lights when the weather was warm, then you wouldn't have to do them in the cold. Now you have to pay for your procrastination.:D

29F and light snow @ 18:30, headed down to an overnight low of 26F. Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 01:00.

Just woke up from nap about an hour ago.

Amazon delivered my "300 Pcs Stick-on Furniture Floor Pads" sometime during the day. Probably set for life now ...

Finally pulled the trigger and got tile/tool order placed last night. Most of it is coming from one local Home Depot but I have to go to three stores to get all of the white octagon/black diamond tile. Closest Home Depot didn't have any of that at all. Still need to order toilet sometime tonight before the "Cyber Savings" deal ends (Save 25%, $74 off regular price) Will pick up tile/tool orders sometime over the next couple of days, since they are all ready and it's supposed to be sunny and in the 40's.

There was a snotload of starlings out around feeders this morning - probably 20 - 30 or more, along with the regulars.

Also some activity out at the squirrel feeder this morning:

IMG_0717 copy.jpg

A little while after that this fellow had showed up and was busily ripping up some bird it had caught ... hopefully a starling ... :D:

IMG_0720 copy.jpg
Could tell it was a bird because every time it would rip a shred of meat off the feathers would go flying in the wind.

Not sure exactly what kind of raptor it was ... forgot to grab the binoculars. Dark grey/blue back with a whitish breast.
Almost thought maybe sharp shinned hawk or maybe a peregrin falcon ... :confused3:

Whatever it was it was fairly small ... not much bigger than a blue jay or mourning dove.

Hope everyone had a great day ...

Well, I was really waiting until you got some measurable snow.... then our cold weather only wouldn't seem so bad...:D

Well, got 95% of the lights done. Just have to have the son go up the extension ladder 20' to change out a floodlight bulb to a red one, and I need to put up a lighted garland for the front door. Wore myself out.... a hot shower is overdue, then recliner time in front of the pellet stove .... and early bedtime!
Here are a couple pics, if I can load a video, it gives a better view.

Enjoy doing your tile. Many years ago Sophie and I did the Home Depot tile lesson, one Sat an hour or 2. Probably don’t have anymore. Glad we did, learned a lot.
1st up was a complete bathroom redo like yours, tear it down to the studs and build back totally different, replacing tub with builtin shower, tiled walls and floor (in black & white) lesson learned - don’t do white grout in floor. Then we redid the kitchen, another tearout. Then a new 2nd bath from scratch when we expanded the upstairs. And that was just our Ga property before moving here where we built both the cottage and house from scratch.
For me, using the spacers was important. Take your time with your starter row, get it right or tear it out. Also a good laser level. I also bought my own tile saw right off. Wife knew getting the rental would end up more expensive. As usual, she was right. As for planning, don’t forget to allow time for the quickset and cleanup. 5 gal buckets and those big yellow sponges. Then get ready for new lessons when you grout.
Not the easiest work, but results can be rewarding.

Drew, glad to hear your generator/electrical work went well. Your landlord is gonna love you.

Have you looked at craigslist for an installer? I think most of the pros want you to buy door etc from them to make more. But any decent handiman should be able to hang your opener. Shoot, I even did it.

Not quite 16 hours and mowing is basically done. Small area where I first started and then rained and wife wants me to do the garden area, so maybe half an hour.
Due to her expert handling of the Craftsman rider, I didn’t have to mow the house lawn (5+ acres), saving some time. She always does excellent job too.

Ted, nice job on the lights. 🤙

Good morning, the temperature is 24ï½°F and going to 28. Wind N 21 gusting to 39 mph. Snow! We could see up to a foot.

I am as ready for the snow as I ever am. I will be out plowing this morning.

I cleaned out the group mail boxes for 25 years, up until someone bellyached about the job I was doing for free. Now they are tendered and I don't bid. The way I look at it, if you are getting a service for free, then don't ***** if the job isn't up to your standards.

After plowing, a town run, then conserve energy.

Have a safe day all

It was the same temp here this AM. 24F What gives???

45-49 today, ended up with just over an inch of rain and high winds never developed here. Gusts to about 30-35 a couple of times.

Cardiologist says I知 doing fine and that I致e lost a lot of weight, go back in six months.

We bought Roku for the old 55 TV, and the kitchen TV, and ordered two new sets with Roku built in. I知 turning in cable boxes today.
With Roku and a couple of cheap subscriptions I can replace everything we watch, and Locast gives me local channels. I知 getting more choices for $50 less.

Have a good day.

This is good news from your doctor, my friend.

I unplugged the cable at least 2 years ago. We have a channel broadcast out of Austin, called Decades?? I get it with my antenna. This morning I woke up, and they were playing old Ed Sullivan highlights. I watched the Rolling Stones do "19th Nervous Breakdown". Pretty cool. I believe they were actually performing live.

RNG, you must be running low on work, jacking up a van to create an oil leak. :)

Got water heater draining right now, going to swap in the one I used before this fancy geo unit that failed way too early. Hope it still works.
Had lukewarm shower this morning, rest of them had a cold shower. Breaker wasn’t tripped, but wife said it was tripped later. Reset breaker tonight and didn’t warm up. Hope not just a bad breaker. Will catch up on tbn later.

BEF, $68 seems a lot to pay for shipping, the water circulation pump on your ground source must be a lot larger than mine, or is it the compressor you are having to replace ?

It’s the whole flow center, don’t have time to just replace a pump. About 3 ft tall Very quick swap when it comes.
IMG_7865.JPG

And it didn’t come today like the call said it would. Tracking shows it’s still sitting in Ohio.

Buckeye, what brand geo heat pump did you get, and what is it replacing? I’m on my third one. First was a Carrier, lasted over 20 years, followed by a Florida Heat Pump / Bosch, that didn’t make ten years. Now have a Climate Master which seems to be better made than the first two, have to see how long it lasts.
.

Just replacing a flow center. HP is geomax by heat controller, same factory as climate master, and has climate master control board. I have 2 of them, I installed 10 yrs ago. I was IGSHP certified installer then.
I replaced the other flow center 2 yrs ago. I use the non pressurized system.
