RNG, The salt content is way over the top in Chili seasoning that's why I make my own. I put three different types of DRIED peppers in a bullet blender and blend then to make my chili powder.
1.Red chili peppers

Ron programmable deadbolts are great for when you don't have the key until you forget the code like I did and had to call the wife to get it.
Sad news this week, my brothers very close friend as well as a family friend took his life on Tuesday after cleaning up snow he got into his car drove about 20 miles from his home and jumped off a bridge on the Mass turnpike that goes over RT 20. His family believes he was depressed over showing signs of dementia his father has Alzheimer's .

Good morning to all! Low of 30, right now it is 33 and cloudy. We have a winter weather advisory, maybe an inch or two of snow.... It is raining now, hope it does not change. Maybe more overnight.

He was actually taking video when he was drilling. I am not sure if he caught it on time lapse or regular. He is putting together a bunch of videos of the build. I will post a link here once he has it compiled.

We got most of the wiring rough in done yesterday, but came up short almost 50 feet of wire. We used a full 250 ft coil. We still have two dedicated 220v circuits / runs to do with 10-3 gauge. They will be easy though, just straight up, across the rafters, and down.

In order to get the metal roof put on, we are going to have to deal with the mud, especially since it is raining again. One thought is to just put down some sacrificial HF tarps so we can put the ladders on those. We only need to do this front and rear to put up the drip edge, the rest of the roofing materials can go up on the tractor loader and be installed from the roof.
We thought about an alternative, that is to wait until the ground gets dryer, grade out the area, and put the stone down for the apron. That will not help with the back side though. I think we are just going to get muddy....

Drew, sorry to hear about your friend. And his wife, at least there are Friends close to help her out.

I had tried a set of HID headlights in the Jeep. They were great for vision, but even adjusted correctly, they would blind oncoming traffic. Really bright. I took them out. I think they are great for off road purposes. The new Nissan PU still uses halogen bulbs, surprisingly they have not switched to LED like other manufacturers.

Ron, Sassy is really cute! It took us 6 months to house train Max also....we thought he would never train...

Since it is raining, the inside Christmas decos are going up today, we are late this year. Usually they are put up the day after Thanksgiving. I have been procrastinating putting up the outside lights due to the mud... not sure it will happen this year....

On closer reading of the label, they are Hatch chilis, but from MEXICO:shocked:

Back before 911, when I traveled to Albuquerque on business, I'd pack along a down vest, even in the summer. On the way back to the airport, I'd stop at a grocery store and buy quarts of frozen Hatch chili, red and green. I'd get them double bagged, then wrap them in that vest and put 'em in my carryon. For a while there, a couple of years, I was in Albuquerque almost as much as in California, so I ate a LOT of chili! My green chili chicken recipe came from the side of one of those containers...

I like your idea about putting down gravel to deal with the mud, Ted. You might wanna put down some bigger stuff first, then roll it into the mud by driving over it with the tractor. Otherwise, just smaller stuff'll tends to bury itself, and you'll end up putting more down later anyway.

A clear and sunny -6ºF morning low; a clear and sunny 18ºF presently; and I anticipate a mostly clear and sunny afternoon high temperature in the high 20ºF’s. With temps like these CR is looking pretty good. WIFI, internet and cellphone service is better down there than around here so hopefully I can keep aware of the activities here and watch the modeled 3 different complex weather systems that may impact on the CONUS while we are gone. Plan for today= getting out of here.

Drew- I am sorry to read about your reaction to the flu vaccine.

Bruce- Thanks. The pharmacy was able to fill one of 2 of Wifey’s meds and they were able to provide me with 10 capsules of my BP med; not quite enough, but 10 is better than 0. The breakdown occurred at our health care center, apparently they were closed for 2 days last week due to the snow.

Drew- I wish you safe travels. I am sorry to read about your Friends. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Phil- I am sorry to read about your gout/arthritis pain and especially the Prednisone taper. Powerful meds = powerful side effects. mood luck. This weather pattern of relatively warmer rain to mixed precipitation to snow then polar cold and repeat is aches&pains weather. Frank’s picture does look familiar.

On the stone front.... yes , the first to go down will be some 2-3 inch road base... stone mixed with caliche. Had to throw that word in... for the other folks to look up...:confused3:. I was disappointed with the last batch I got though...too much caliche in it, it is still really, really soft and the truck is leaving 2 inch deep tire tracks in it. Some areas are so soft, if you walk on it, you will sink an inch. Hopefully it will dry out and become rock hard.

The muck that we get here is so thick that it would just eat up the hay.... even 6 inches thick of hay will only last a few times walking on it before the soup oozes up through it. Works great to hold seed in place though and prevent it all from being eaten.

As someone lucky enough to have looked down in the water in Oahu and watched the bubbles still coming up, after all this time...
Half the visitors that day were Japanese in blue suits festooned with cameras. They were very respectful.

A friend just got back a few weeks ago and said the experience was very somber.

Hawkeye, hope your review goes fair. When my current boss became my boss, we had a bit of a tenuous relationship, but now, he realizes that I'm his "lowest maintenance" employee, and things go fairly smooth. I did make a mistake the other day on some parts, and a scientist lady jumped on me a bit in an email, and my boss quickly came to my defense. He was more worked up over it than I. She wound down, I got her stuff reworked expediently, and the roads are smooth again. Multiple mistakes were made, which led up to my mistake.

Still very busy.

If you can remove the top slop and lay down some highway fabric with your stone or gravel you will have a good base.

The ones I put on Barn and Garage are like this one. It replaces complete deadbolt. Does not communicate with Bluetooth or WI-FI.

The one I have on house is this one. I have had it for 2 years. It uses existing deadbolt. But will not work on all types. I use my Echo to control it. Plus APP on my iPhone. Betty used her Apple watch to lock and unlock door.

Have you considered laying down fabric first? Here if you don’t the rock just keeps sinking in the mud.
