Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #103,231
4 above going to 35 today. Partly sunny with a warm up and 2 days of rain coming. Up since 4 am with 2 coffees already down.
Started a 6 day steroid taper regimen this morning to try and bring my gout and arthritis pain under control.Doc also doubled my prescription stomach meds to try and cut down the acid reflux. Just for fun my body decided to up my blood pressure to 150 over 80. Need to go back for a couple more test to see if it was a fluke. Usually it is only 129 over 80.
Cleaned up the snow in the yard, went and got some diesel fuel, gas for the grill, gas for the truck(phew 70 bucks!) and loaded up the pellet stove yesterday. Can't do much else as I'm right handed and can't straighten out my fingers or make a fist.
Wife is going out with friends today so I will be left alone. Might attempt a little shopping to pick up a new coffee mug for work. Need one that will keep it hot for a few hours. I broke my last one a month ago.
Enjoy your trip Jay!
Ramman is that view from the Mt. Wachusett area or western Ma.? Looks familiar.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy.

Re: headlights. I had seal beams in the front of the Freightliner and 3 years ago changed them out for LEDs. What a difference! Ever since I got the truck in 2005 (its a 2001), I have had 100 watt spot lights on top of the mirror brackets aimed for both ditches. We call them 'moose lights'. They are very illegal. Non fluted lenses and way over the goobermint specs wattage wise. They do a good job of lighting up the ditches where the moose hide overnight. When I meet oncoming traffic, I shut them off. The cops kinda ignore the fact you have them IF you don't blind people AND more importantly don't blind the cop when he is coming at you. Whenever I was in the states, I just wouldn't use them, the same with Manitoba.

No such thing as too much light on a motor vehicle, Bill. Especially as my eyes age, I appreciate every lumen. LED makers are finally figuring out how to make them not only bright, but focused where they need to be instead of blinding oncoming traffic. If only people would take the time to aim their lights when they swap out the bulbs...:muttering:

Drinking first cup of coffee. 27° with some clouds this morning. Heading to 44° with cloudy skies. Got both digital deadbolts up and programmed. No more worry about loosing keys when out using tractor or mower. Fix dogs water bottle stand to keep spout from turning. Sassy has not figured out how to get it back where she can get at it to drink. Keeps her hair do from getting wet.

I ordered a pack of the lube sheets for shredder a few day ago. Ran one threw shredder. After lube got spread. It sounded like it doubled in speed.
My 2012 Captiva has GM's version of oil life. I used it to tell when to change oil. Which got oil change at 9k. After second time i needed to add oil at 5k. After that I did oil changes between 4 and 5K without any oil lose. It used full synthetic.

Another couple of birds at feeder that I cannot find a good answer on their breed. They a little bigger than sparrow. Best I have found is Brown Head Cowbird.

Ramman, Great picture. Keep in touch with your grandfather. After being married for almost 60 years to my wife. She died 3 months ago. I have a idea how he must feel. Holidays are rough. Contact with family and friends are very important.

Phil, hope you get better with new meds.

Buckeye, lots of vitamin C.

Drew, sorry for your friends wife. Hope she gets all the support she needs.

RNG, I put LED light on my motorhome. They worked great. I notice a lot of the cars/trucks with LED's are properly aimed. Until they come over a hill. Vehicles approaching get blinded. Not sure how to fix it other than lower wattage. Or have a third level of brightness for approaching vehicles.

Rick, On the new here they are talking about a Ford HD pickup tailgate recall. Apparently it can open when hitting a hard bump.

Jay I guess I was day early on your travel wishes. Safe and warm travels.

Prayers and best wishes for all.

Good Morning All.

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 4:00AM. Rain showers this morning with some sunshine during the afternoon hours. High around 60F. SSE winds shifting to W at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50%.
Picked up an inch of rain yesterday, some in the morning, more in the afternoon. Really strong winds all day; now I know where the old saying "hang onto your hat" came from.

Speaking of headlights, I changed out the bulb on the touring bike yesterday to an LED. Had to carve on the plastic three pin adaptor that is supposed to fit an H4 holder; I guess they're not all the same. Then I learned that I must have scavenged the headlight relay for the red dirt bike earlier this year, as the new "bulb" didn't work when I first tried it. Funny, I have no recollection of doing that but I have no one else to blame.:confused2: Found one in a drawer appropriately labeled "RELAYS", then tried to follow the instructions in the bike's owners manual for aiming the thing. Don't have much confidence that it's done properly, as there's so much stuff in the garage now I could get neither the right distance nor a clear shot at the cross the instructions specified. So I'll go out for a little ride tomorrow night and see how I did.

At Costco this week I picked up a package of chicken meat they'd salvaged from unsold rotisserie birds, and used it night before last to make a green chili chicken stew. Costco was also selling New Mexico green chili in bottles last month, and I loaded up. Only three ingredients in the stew: the chili, the chicken, and about a dozen small potatoes chunked up in bite sized cubes. It all went into the Instant Pot, and sat on slow cook all night, but surprisingly the potatoes were still hard yesterday morning. Kept tasting them all day, and finally by evening they were ready; slowest cooking batch of chili I've ever made! Somewhere in there I read the label on the bottle the chili came in, and was amazed at how much salt it contained. A two tablespoon serving contained 250 milligrams of sodium chloride, two tablespoons to the ounce, forty ounces in the jar, almost a full ounce of salt in there. And me on a low salt diet. Next time I'll drain the juice off, then rinse the chili, too.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!
