Farm Security

That is a good camera. My second job is in the hunting department of a big retail chain. That camera gets high marks from everyone who has bought one. I have also sold it to catch peeping toms, and to protect garages, for some of our surburban customers. I would make sure that every buidling was watched. your spring house especially. If you buy a big memory card you can even use the video features.
I would fence in my whole property and make sure that they had to work at getting on my land instead of going woops i didnt know where the boundry was.

First..Thank you for your service to our country. May God Bless you and keep you safe.

Second..There are good, relatively inexpensive, surv cameras out there that will connect into your home computer and record everything they see. You need that for two reasons, the main one being evidence against this neighbor and his family for BOTH criminal and civil remedies/charges. Once obtained, use that photo evidence to prosecute to the fullest. With evidence, your law enforcement and DA would be forced to take action. Right now all you have is your word against this low life's word!! By any chance have you checked to see if this neighboir is family or friend to your sheriff?

You are obviously dealing with low life types and the ONLY thing they understand is someone who pushes back at them VERY, VERY, HARD. May I suggest that you contact a professional in your area about what to buy and then installing the security cameras etc. at your place, so that you know the job is done right. All of it should be wireless, Also, let me suggest an additional lazer system about 100-200 yds out from your main area, that surrounds your main area, so as to give you pre-warning of anyone approaching your main area. (home, barns, etc.) Not really that expensive.

DO NOT jimmy rig anything up to injure someone illegally entering your barn etc. Unfortunately our laws today will crucify you for that, and not the criminal!!

The other suggestions, ie; writing the newspaper, calling your congressman, etc. are all good too, BUT would have a much more positive effect after you have photographic eidence.

When you get home in April, go to your local VFW and see what influencial contacts are members there and can help you. I have found that we vets stick together in matters like this and tend to take care of our own, so to speak. Maybe even having a willing someone from there go "speak" to this person and his son would help. Afterall, those two are probably cowards and once they know your family has local serious "backing" while you're gone, they may change their attitude towards the whole situation. An attitude changing meeting does do that with low lifes like this.

Wish you were here in N Texas. We'd help take care of it for sure.

First..Thank you for your service....God Bless you and keep you safe.

I'm with Unclebuck257 and the others. Thank you for your service. I can't believe (maybe I can) that a patriot who serves his country (and the world) can't get any bloody help from the local authorities. It is infuriating. Are these neighbors local yokels with a million pals and relatives in the area? I think you have to go up the ladder and build a case and papar trail against them. Take photos, document dates, get witness statements. Make it so the judge or authority has no choice but to respond.

The problem is, if the people are really jerks (versus just dumbos), they may try to retaliate with further vandalism or worse.

Are these people just as obnoxious to the other folks in the area? Maybe you can get some help. I agree though, don't do anything that will backfire and give them legal cause against you. The losers usually know how to get the system to work better than honest, law abiding citizens.

GOOD LUCK!

P.S. Have your wife start setting up a target shooting range in the field!

Thanks fellas. I am done with the sheriff issue, I am not going to waste my time. It is not a productive avenue to pursue.

Where I am going: I just wanted recommendations on what else to do on my own in addition to the steps I was taking. I read Johnbud's excellent thread and got some ideas on camera placement but can't find any good camera recommendations on a specific make/model. I am just going to get the Moultrie 5.0 Outfitter Camera with Infrared Flash at Cabelas delivered.

These people are just scumbags from Pittsburgh. I put up the fence and asked them not to trespass anymore, their position is that privately held farmland is "public land" and I am unreasonable. I moved my posted signs 100 meters back from the fenceline and moved the fenceline back at their request in a few spots because they cleared some of my land and planted grass. I have made concessions where I could and paid for a survey of our boundary and had 5 new pins placed, they advised me that they would shoot my horses if they came close to they fenceline but my horses don't go out into the woods. Their son also ripped open seals on my spring house and filled it with branches, I know this because he told me he did it last time I told him to leave my property. I am just glad he didn't fall in and get injured then sue me, it is deep and half full of water.

My wife emailed pics and the Mule is trashed, many wires cut, seat cut up, etc.

This is also something of a rant because I don't want to give my spouse grief and there is nothing I can do about all this right now. I guess I will not be getting a BX25, the money is now being diverted to security. Thanks for the outlet for my frustration.

Like every one else said thanks for serving!!!!

One thing about sheriff if he is elected he can be "unelected" next term.

If he is appointed the people doing the appointing can be "unelected"

Please don't hesitate to contact the county commissioners or whomever ever is his boss.

If you roll over they will just poke your other side.

Move your fence back were it should be and don't give them an inch.
Get some one plant some thing in that field and go after the crop damage.

If they are down wind raise some pigs if its legal.

Thanks again for Serving

tom

I think there was some discussion here in the last 60 days of the Stealthcam ISO something or other for $99.99 at Cabelas on sale.

I don't want your attention distracted while you're in Iraq because it's dangerous enough as it is. It would be nice to have pictures in hand, but how are you supposed to do that from Iraq? I think you need some quick help at home so you can concentrate on what is in front of you and stay safe.

If you have specific names, addresses for the suspects and the name and phone number of the sheriff to pass on to your congressman's staff, maybe they'll get something moving quickly. Email a photo of the damage to the staff. A call from the staff to the sheriff might get him to act or maybe they can call the local prosecutor and ask what "assistance" the prosecutor's office can give you.

Congrats on servng your country!
There was a thread on here about a guy who rigged up a phoney camera and "accidently" dropped the "advertisement/instructions" for a real one.Seemed like a real good idea -- guy tried to take him to court!!!
I would say use your secret weapon -- your wife. Guys like the sherrif seem to react better to women a lot of times than they do men -and if he doesnt then you really can get some wonderful publicity for him:p:p. You know, -- wife minding the homefront for serving husband unprotected by local law enforcement, so fearfull she gets gun permit -- makes a pretty good story especially when it is true! -- just a thought.
Be carefull out there.
regards

Yeah, You being done with trying to get the sherrif to help I can see. But your just getting started making them squirm right?
Do like many others said and post your experience in the local paper.
Im a little in shock that you even have neighbors like that. Thank you for your service. your in a bad spot, I wish I could help too. you did us all a favor and they wont ever even start to repay it.

Well its a sad shame a man fighting for his country has to be treated this way at his home.Thank you for your service.

Do you have any buddies over there,[real buddys] who might be home when you are?

Time for a little ole hillbilly redneck justice. Get you enough help[if you need it] and go kick some@##.

Or,go out at night and tear up every thing of theres you can find.

Some times you gotta do what you gotta do.

Shotgun, number 9 shot or so,few pellits in a trespasser won't kill him, can't be traced, and if your not seen, than, your not seen. good luck, wish you lived only an hour or so from me.

The apparent problem here is in the Sheriff not enforcing the law which can be fixed even if it means ousting a Sheriff in the next election. It has been done.

Any of you guys ever check on the number of Sheriffs in your state under federal indictment?

   / Farm Security #20
You should post the sherriff's contact info here. I am sure a few of our group would be willing to call him to ask why he won't take care of a serving veteran.

Maybe someone close to call a congressman in your behalf.

It T's me off to hear what they are doing. Scum is correct, who knows maybe we can set up a TBN blanket party.
