F Series vs. ZD

Ferris has a good reputation, especially for the comfort of their suspension. I do wish Kubota would come up with something similar, or licence Ferris' suspension system.
The real problem (from my point of view) is the big gasoline mowers go through a lot of fuel compared to a diesel of similar capabilities.
...and the gas motors have a much, much shorter life expectancy than a diesel. It appears that the Kohler twins have cam issues and starter issues as well. I just had to replace the starter on my wife's Kohler V twin last fall. The OEM starter went up in a puff, a stinky puff at that.

You guys haven’t done me any favors this weekend…

So I’m buying a big diesel zero turn, a big diesel tractor for a bat wing mower, anything else?

😵‍💫

Haha. My vote with your money is a Kubota ZD1211 with a 72" side discharge deck....
Or one of those 11-12' (5) deck contour mowers.

My vote is for hiring your lawn mowing out... You can pay for a heck of a lot of lawn service for what a new mower will cost you and have ZERO grief.

What my close friend and hunting buddy did. Built a new home not far from here and hired a landscape service to landscape it as well ad keep it mowed and trimmed. Not mowing his patch has saved him a lot of time and aggrivation and no lawn mower to maintain either.

I received landscaping quotes. It’s a no go. $300 a week is nuts.

I’d make that back in a few seasons. Mowing is 7-8 months here.

Plus…it gives me reason to buy some more toys!!!

I picket up a used JD-1435 (diesel) with a 72" side discharge front deck. I also have a JD F-935 diesel front deck rear discharge mower. I can also run my Winpower pto generator off of either machine using a reduction gearbox. Feature I like the best is the front broom for snow, dirt, and pasture maintenance.

You know you can put bar tires on a zero turn for greater traction, right?

Years ago, I used to think zero turns got poor traction. I even put bar tires on my ZD-331. Then I developed improved driving skills. Now I zoom up and down steep hills on turf tires.

I don’t doubt they climb hills. For my the awd advantage was for snow and clearing my hilly driveway. Which ain’t happening with a zero turn

Is that a rear discharge deck and if so how do you like it?
