Custom rake and shovel holder

Did you ever put a shovel into your fel bucket and drive to the ole' dirt pile and dig right in for a full scoop and not realizing until you dump the dirt that you forgot to take the shovel out of the bucket /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Well here's a handy little add-on the puts that shovel or rake in the right spot /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Re: Custom rake and shovel holder

I made the holder out of 2" PVC pipe with a cap glued on the one end. The cap has a 3/8" hole drilled in to let any water escape. It is attached to the fel arm using 2 large zippy ties like you would find on your home central air system. On my cab model tractor, I tilted the holder forward abit so the tools would not hit my mirror. Here's another photo.

That's a good little item, but just remember not to go in the woods with it, or you'll be replacing handles on a regualr basis. I could break that off in a heartbeat out here in my woods where I'm constantly clearing something! John

Lost a few chains that way though. I like your idea.

Nice, useful atachment. I am especially impressed wth the attention to detail; i.e. matching paint.

GuglioLS,
Let's not even get into the subject of loosing chains /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. I'll be making some kind of storage box for them also. Just don't have the time right now. For about $3 I thought my shovel - rake holder was rather inexpensive and very useful for spring cleanup.

Re: Custom rake and shovel holder

why not u shaped brackets on top of FEL bucket with bungee straps and small shallow ammo box for chains. Just my 2 cents worth.

Re: Custom rake and shovel holder

cleatus,
I'm thinking something like the ammo box setup, but I may have to have more than 1 box. A 3/8 x 20 ft. chain takes up about 1 box.

Re: Custom rake and shovel holder

Kubotabilly & Cleatus,
I found some heavy guage plastic (1/4") 30 round 25 mm ammo boxes that open on the top & bottom. They are about 4"X14"X14" for 6 bucks. Have not tried to put the chain in them yet to see if it fits. I will U bolt them to the FEL bucket or the ROPS. Will send photos if the chain fits. I will let you know. The surpluss joint has about a 100 of these left.

Re: Custom rake and shovel holder

Geat idea kubotabilly. PVC pipe sure is handy.

I have seen others on tractor forums who made holders out of steel, say 4" X 5". I think thats what I will do. But I may make up several PVC tubes (I paint them Kubota orange of course:) just to zip tie on for temp jobs.

Re: Custom rake and shovel holder

ksmmoto,
You can't beat PVC for this application. It's inexpensive, lightweight and paintable. It makes a permanent setup. I had them on my other Kubota for years.

Isn't it written that "If you have to get out of the seat, you're doing it wrong or, you haven't bought enough attachements yet" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice holder though.
