How to install a 96 Pantry in a kitchen with 8 Ceiling?

The base/toe kick is separate.

My thought is trim a hidden side of the cabinet side flange.

Then set and level the base.

The use a hand truck to raise the cabinet and then slide it on the base.

Does that sound like a plan?

Are you going to put trim or crown up after? That's what I did on my pantry cabinet and oven cabinet. Also, my floors and ceiling were not perfectly level, I ended up finding one spot in the room that gave me an extra inch to tilt them up so I had to trim less. Swung the tap measure from the bottom front corner and trimmed the back.

Sorry about poor lighting but you get the idea.

I wouldn't bother with the hand truck, just more chances to "ding" the cabinet. I would "walk" it over, tilt one side onto the base and push it in.

Most toe kicks are 3 1/2 inches tall. How deep is the pantry? My guess is that you won't have enough room to tilt it up. Before trying to get it into place, I would see how high the back of it goes when tilting it up.

Can you cut the thing in half? Then put some trim over the cut, or bevel, bondo, sand and paint the cut?

No cutting can happen as they are pre-finished cabinets.

Cabinet is 91 and 9/16” tall, the base is 5 and 5/16” then the base sets up inside the bottom of the cabinet by 15/16”.

That's a tall base. I've rounded off the top back corner of cabinets to get them to fit before. Sometimes all you need is that little bit to get it to work

How good is your plaster work? Chop a tilting hole in the ceiling between 2 joists, then patch?

If you can't find an easier solution...cut enough off the top to get it in place and use some molding (crown etc...) to trim it out...

Fill in that 15/16" in the bottom, the build a new base with a 1/4"gap to allow for shimming, etc. Put the base down, slip the back edge on, then slide it back. You may have to vertical lift the cabinet. Raise it up in steps to get the cabinet higher than the base.

I built my panrty in two pieces because I did not want it on a base. Just lifted upper on once the bottom was secured to the wall. Jon

Thanks for the suggestions!!

I cut most of the left side of the cabinet off and we were able to work it into place.

In retrospect I should have cut the left side off flush and it would have been easier to do, since all the force once stuff is in the cabinet is pushing down on the floor of the cabinet which is on the base.
