i was wondering since the 4500 and 4600 have the same size enjine, could the 4500 be tuned up to the power level of the 4600? the reason i ask is i read a post that someone had written that said the 5105 and 5205's were the same tractor and to buy the 5105 and get a good diesel mech. to tune the injectors to bring the power level up to the 5205.
i enjoy this group very much and have learned alot. i'm in the market for a 4500 or 4600 w/fel. thanx to any replies in advance.

We discussed this somewhere on another thread... maybe jplan...

I have the JD5205...it has a larger water pump, an added oil cooler, different injection pump assembly and I think a different radiator than the 5105 to dissipate 8 Engine HP difference of heat generated between the two.

I had looked quickly {not closely} and find both the JD4600 & 4700 have these differences over the 4500. {and yes the 4700 has the larger displaced engine of the three}.

Yes I agree, by "tweaking" the injecting pump to increase the fuel delivery rate will substantially increase your hp {& heat}, but other things are also done to complete this power equation to basically get rid of the extra heat generated.
