My 4410 suddenly died while sitting at idle the other day. After some checking I found the f5 fuse had blown. タfter some more checking, I found that if I leave the mfwd switch plugged in, it will blow the fuse when the key switch is turned "on.". Leave it unplugged and fuse is good, but the tractor won't start. I even tried jumping the starter. Engine turns over, but won't start. IIt sounds like it's not getting any fuel. The fault code light flashes one long (3 secs), 6 short, 1 short. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Steve

Not sure what a mfwd switch is but if you have a fuse that keeps burning up it would have to be either a bad switch, bare wire, bad ground or something letting too many amps to that fuse.Time to start testing components and tracing wires

Put a 12v lightbulb in place of the fuse (rig with soldered wires to old fuse is what I do) and it will light up when there is a short. Lets you play with the wires to find the problem, without destroying more fuses.

More searching found there's no juice to fuel solenoid. I assume it's the relay. Can someone tell me the location of said relay?

Thanks,
Steve

Fuel solenoid checks out Ok after all. Seat switch was holding it out. Made switch, tractor started. Still had to jump across starter to do so but at least I know fuel solenoid is ok.

Hey beenthere I'll have to give it a try. It seems I'll be tracing wires.

Thanks,
Steve

Works great for me, and once helped me find a short in a wire that was above the headliner in my Chev Citation. New car and several trips to the dealer to no avail led me to chase it down on my own. Plug it in and started moving wires around until "poof" the light went out.. never would have imagined to look for a wire above the headliner that had a very small piece of insulation torn.

It is crude looking, but works.. here is a pic.

Sounds to me like the fuse F5 that you are blowing not only powers the MFWD switch but also the fuel solenoid.

With MFWD unhooked, and good fuse in, it should run. But plug in MFWD switch and fuse blows, thus loosing fuel solenoid that is also powered by that fuse.

The issue appears to be with the MFWD switch

see if this helps -

I have the Deere Tech manual with electrical schematics in a PDF if you'd like it. Shoot me your email if so -

Yours is a work of art compared to mine. :). I tried hooking it up and wiggling wires but so far Nada.

Thanks,
Steve

PM sent joecdeere. I'm sure I'll benefit greatly from that. I'm going to put the DMM to the mfwd switch to start with. Wish me luck!

Thanks,
Steve
