I picked up an 2008 American Sportworks Trail Wagon 265cc UTV for around the farm yard. I am not into 4x4 off-roading and do not need to go 80 MPH in my yard. I found a nice shape unit for a very reasonable price.
The only thing with it is that the electric start on the Subaru engine has...
My neighbor has about 300 lbs of left over fertilizer from his brother's seeding last year.
He offered it to me to use on our 3 acres of grass. I bought Scott's Turf-Builder 30-0-03 fertilizer the other day and it cost me over $100 for a very sparse application. I do so little fertilizing...
I have a Detco 101 tree planter. I do already have a call into the them but since it is the weekend I am trying to rack my brains to figure this out.
I tilled my field the other day to the max of the tiller (5"). The tree planter's coulter and shank does not penetrate the soil very far. It is...
I have a 1999 Dodge Dakota and pull a 2010 KZ CL164 travel trailer. Currently on a trip and my running lights on the trailer are not working. Stop lights, turn lights, 12V power feed and brake controller all work.
Here is what I've done so far...
1) Replaced the 7-pin plug on the truck...
I know this is not really tractor related but...
I need to make a dance floor for renting out at our bed & breakfast for when people book us for weddings.
What I want to do is 8 - 4x8 sheets of plywood, stained and sealed. I want to make a 16x16 dance floor so 2 sheets wide by 4 sheets in...
Anybody own one of these?
$6,995 vs $13,900 for a name brand UTV is a huge difference to me. I will only be using it on our flat 17 acre property as a way to travel to all corners quickly. No heavy 4x4ing. Maybe to pull a dump lawn cart and an core aerator.
I have read some good reviews and...
I recently bought a Detco 101 tree planter (Detco, Inc. Tree Planters, Spades, and Tongs) and I need a way to equally space the trees while planting.
I have seen the trailing chain method and that is a possibility but I saw this video on YouTube. The chain method would be more of a nuissance...
Me again...
Tried some welding on those oak barrel steel hoops. Kept blowing holes in them with the 1/8" rods (6011 & 7014). I tried to turn the amps down but then had issues with arc strike.
I figured before I even started that the 1/8" rod was too big but gave it the old college try anyways...
Hey,
Update...I couldn't get that Dayton AC/DC welder.
Anyways...I found a 230A AC welder locally for $75. Good price and looked in good shape but I haven't seen it work / tested it.
The guy said he bought it for his cabin building docks. He hasn't used it in years since that project and was...
I have a lead on a barely used Dayton Model 3X564 250 AC/DC stick welder.
Are these a good brand? Reliable?
I don't need a fast welder or one that is commercial...just a acreage welder.
I am looking for a Lincoln AC ARC welder. All of the Craigslist ads are really high priced. What gives?
Why is a 15 yr old welder worth $200 when they are $289 new at Northern Tool.
People are thinking I'm being ridiculous about wanting to pay $100 - $125 for a bare bones unit.
Now if it...
I need a welder for odd jobs around the acreage. Nothing too heavy.
I don't have a lot of $$$ to throw at this...so what do you think would be better?
A small 120v MIG or a 220v Stick Welder?
Lets start off with the fact that I know BF is illegal. If done with care and a half brain you can do it safely.
Here is my procedure and problem.
1. My generator is 4000W/3000W @ 120V (20A). I have no 220V output.
2. Trees always take out my hydro line and my house is always completely...
Found a 60" Farm King rotary mower...surprisingly from someone I worked with. $700 in really good shape. Just need to find a trailer and go get it next week.
I'll try to keep this short and hopefully someone can help:
- Tractor does not turn to the right.
- Tractor slower in stright FWD travel.
- LH hydro-gear turning slower than RH or not turning when (in zero turn) wheels jacked up off ground.
- LH hydro replaced, no change.
- Drive belt replaced...
I am looking for a rough cut mower for my CT230.
Choices I have:
1) a slightly used Tebben 60" mower w/ shear pin for $1200 + taxes.
2) an almost new Woods 48" mower w/ slip clutch and chain guards front and back for $1000 no tax.
3) an old used John Deere 60" w/ slip clutch for $1000 no...
I have a Honda 1.5" water pump. I've been pumping water for the last few weeks. It finally dried up and haven't used it in over a week. Got rain/snow on the weekend and the puddles are back and need to be pumped again.
Dam thing won't start. Get the occasional sputter.
1) Emptied/cleaned gas...
Check this CT230 out. Supposedly only 122 hours. Looks fishy to me. What's with the body panels?
2009 Bobcat CT230 tractor w/ Loader
I'd personally stay away from this.
Anyone ever heard of them? They are out of MN and they say they are USA made.
My neighbour has it in his yard. His brother owns an AG dealership in town. He got it late last summer. His tractor keeps snapping the shear bolt upon PTO engagement. His MF tractor has an electronic PTO engagement...
I changed the HYD and HYDRO filters and fluid at the 50 HR.
Now at the 200 HR service they want the filters changed.
At 400 HR you do the fluid...Then the filters don't get change again?
Seems a little ridiculous to change a filter with only 150 HRS on it and then to not change it again...
Anyone wire one of these up in their Dakota?
Here is the scoop.
Truck does NOT have factory tow package. But under dash by steering column there is a 4 pin connector labelled "ELECTRIC BRAKE".
That connector has PWR / GRND / STOP LAMP / BRAKE OUTPUT(Blue).
I wired up the brake controller as...
I need to buy a middle buster / sub-soiler / furrower and need a basic general size.
I know they are aproximately 75 lbs and I need to ideally put it in a VW Jetta trunk. I don't mind to remove hitch pins and/or the shovel. I am travelling to where I can buy one cheaper and I rather take the...
I am looking for a used Mechanical Transplanter brand model CT-4.
If you, or you know anybody that has a tree farm they may have one of these.
Looking to transplant Colorado Blue Spruce seedings. This model does that.
If you have a lead on one please contact via PM.
Thanks
I live about 1hr west of Winnipeg, MB, Canada and I have a 78" John Deere snowblower of unkown vintage.
Where I live can be very very cold and windy. I had a thought to box in the chute on the blower. I am not concerned with sticking snow as it is very dry and cold snow.
My aim would be to...
I was in town today and quickly stopped by the dealer to look at the new Bobcat built FEL (7TL). I was sadly dissapointed and glad that I have Rhino built one. Here is what I observed:
1) It is not a curved boom but several welder pieces. Not sure if that matters though.
2) The bucket was much...
I have a hydraulic top link.
The swivel eye that is welded to the cylinder has several cracks in the sleeve part. It still is intact right now but may start to crumble soon.
Can you replace the swivel sleeve? Or do I need to replace the whole eye.
I came across a website awhile ago that had hundreds of different tiller tines. The website had blueprint style documentation on each tine (bolt hole spacing, shape, size, etc).
I can not locate this website again. Does anyone know this website?
I have about an acre of grass to seed. I've levelled the area.
1) Should I till up the top 1" with the tiller?
2) Need to figure out some way to 'rake' in the seed using the tractor.
Ideas?
I just finished building up my custom sprayer for my Cub Cadet i1050.
Here is what I purchased:
1 - Master MFG 15 Gallon Spot Sprayer - $99
3 - Tee-Jet Nozzles w/ Tips (80 degree spray)
I used some 2" square tubing and used 30" lengths and picked up on two frame rail bolt holes. On that I...
I installed my rear remotes today. I picked up the kit about 2 weeks ago. Today was rainy, cool and too muddy to play with dirt.
Overall the instructions are clear and everything went together as planned. Instructions say 1 hour but I took a bit more becuase somehow I pinch an o-ring and had a...
Here are some pics from my last ~10 hours of seat time.
1 - Pic from the operator seat of the CT230.
2 - Over a 1.5 acres of wild grass that I burnt and tilled.
3 - New firewood pallet system.
4 - The CT230 with the newly acquired pallet forks (used set).
Hi everyone,
OK, so here is the scoop...
- We know the back-hoes and FELs are made by Rhino.
- We know the BC tractor is a Kioti in white.
- I found out that my BC box blade is a Rhino box blade.
Anyone that buys BC implements are buying a re-branded item.
My question is that I have a BC 60"...
Today I got my new toys for my CT230.
1) Bobcat 60" box blade (new).
2) Skidsteer pallet forks (used).
I scarified the driveway (1300') and erradicated all the potholes. Levelled it out. Did the neighbours driveway (1000') and the other neighbours (500').
The CT230 pulled like a champ. Had...
Today is another spring day with heavy melting of snow going on. My back 7 acres of ag land (now tree farm) is half under water.
The problem is that the ditch was frozen up and not allowing water to drain.
The solution?! The CAT! I put the CT230 in low gear and drove it nose first into the...
Looking at a Northern Industrial 5' box blade. They are $499. In my price range and from the reviews on the website a decent piece. Anyone with actual experience?
I would love to buy the Bobcat box blade w/ hyd teeth but at $1100 is not in my range.
Hi,
I am fairly new to the tractoring world.
I purchased a Bobcat CT230 last July and love it. I need to level out some land for a runway this spring. The CT230 is 30 HP and I was wondering what size of box blade to get? 60" or 72"? Pros / cons of those sizes?
Many thanks.
The last two times I went to start the CT230 it would not start. I figured that it was some kind of safety switch that was causing troubles from being frozen or something. The battery had plenty of juice but the starter would not engage.
I bounced up and down on the seat a few times, engaged...
I purchased a CT230 back in July 09. Its got 53 hours on it now and been running flawlessly for the 53 hours. Today while doing some light snow work and moving frozen pumpkins into the compost. I smelt hydraulic fluid and upon further investigation found the engine compartment covered in fluid...
Hi,
I own a CT230 (Kioti - CK30 in white). I am getting ready to do the 50 hr service before it freezes up.
In the manual it says the front axle capacity is 4.5L each. Does this mean the entire axle holds 9L? There are two drain plugs but only one fill plug
Any ideas? I need to go to town to...
I have a new Bobcat CT230 and it is a 30 HP tractor. I've been looking at some snowblowers and I have come across a few good deals but they are larger (72" or bigger). I was thinking a 60" personally but not sure how much HP is required for each size. Any ideas?
Here is my first work light. I found these rubber cased work lights at Princess Auto for $6. I bought 2 but I only have one installed right now as I still need to mount my SMV sign and I'm not sure if this one will stay in its current location.
Power is from the factory wire harness under the...
Hi,
I just purchased a CT230 on Saturday (delivery this week). My first tractor for my 17 acre property. It has a 7TL Bob-Tach FEL and a 60" tiller. My question is that I need to blade the drive in summer and winter. I would like to put a cutting edge on the bucket to keep the bucket as...
