Yeah, and the back axle or hub is absolutely broken, the front one probably is but it's hard to tell when the tires flat and it's on the rim. Don't think it's photo shopped.

I use old fire hose for the sharp edges when using straps. And old fire hoses makes great protectors for hydraulic hoses on my grapples and post puller.
But when hauling equipment it’s chains and load binders.

I will admit the dozier to me is little over the load limit of the trailer. Well, maybe a lot. How much does that dozier weigh? I do doubt it would slide out due to braking.

A few years ago, I drove by a trailer with piece of heavy equipment on it, laying on it's side. They had it chain down so good there was no space between the wheels and the trailer deck.

One thing I did decide yesterday my first time using the screw type binders, wish had bought the higher priced ones you use cordless drills to run down. Bout wore me out.

Mine are the folding handle style:

I know I was down in Florida cleaning up after a hurricane. The dump was a mess and co got stuck trying to get in. I had a brand new strap and tied it to a dozer. Snapped like a rubber band. Stopped by a truck we parked on homestead AFB and got two gold chains. I got pulled out and I pulled many others out with nothing breaking. Oilfield uses chain around here. The strap question was answered for me. No it didn't break on a sharp edge, it popped in the middle.

I don't know. I don't ever know the names. I do remember Lake Charles was Laura, but that's because someone had spray painted it on their house.

Andrew was in '92 and I seem to remember it took out a lot of Homestead AFB the base was mentioned a great deal concerning Andrew.. If it was after 2015 it had to have been another one. Hurricanes must have an easy path through that area.

They had a FEMA camp set up at homestead. It was a safe place to park our trucks. Plus, they fed us if we could make it there in time, though I rarely got there late enough for breakfast or early enough for supper. Never lunch.

A grade 70 chain is absolutely stronger than a strap. I’ve never seen a grade 70 chain be cut by a load. Can you get by with straps hauling a tractor? Sure, probably most of the time. Am I ever going to? No. I have chains and binders and I’m crazy averse to being killed or being sued or charged for negligently killing someone else.

I can assure you, my loads are not tied down in a negligent manner.

I use an appropriate tie down method for the load.

I don’t always use chains, don’t always use straps.

To say a chain is always stronger than a strap is not always correct. There are many sizes of grade 70 chain and there are many sizes and qualities of straps. Again, absolutes.

I have seen chains cut by loads, just google semi trucks hauling steel accidents. Happens, not indicating straps would have done better in those situations.

If you’re going with the most common option of a 2” ratchet strap vs 5/16 grade 70 chain the chain wins by a lot. And that’s assuming the strap is brand new and in perfect condition. Use a frayed or sun faded strap and the chains lead just got a lot bigger.

I generally carry a mix of 1” and 2” straps, 3/8 and 1/2” G70 chains with ratchet binders.

They all get used depending on application.
Each is better than the other depending on application. Hell, I carry bungee cords and zip ties that beat out the 1/2” chain for some tie down applications.
