I know another forum where ownership basically said...gYOF (get your own forum) if you want to discuss other topics, not thinking it could be done. We we did and took it back to what drew people to the initial forum, content. They were fixated on forum software features, layout, and automation; then it lost track of the thing that made it great to begin with. The life cycle of a forum is finite, it turns out.
I long for the days when the software was basic, the layout was crude, but the content of conversation was great. People went to forums that broached topics that were not easily discussed with their neighbor.
Now we might as well go back to the neighbors to talk life.
