Funny how regional mower brands are. Here in CT all the commercial guys use Scag and some Hustler. Never seen a GrassHopper or Dixie Chopper here in CT. We have Deere and Husqvarna, but mostly residential, not commercial. Tractor Supply sells Bad Boy but does not service them. Of the brands you mention, Toro, Deere, Exmark and Bad Boy, I would choose based on how good the dealer support is.
I have a SCAG (Eastern MA.), and I bought from a NH. SCAG dealer, but there is a quality SCAG dealer near me.

I saw a guy at lowe's yesterday with an ariens zturn on his trailer. I asked how he liked it etc etc.

He loves it and went on to tell me Graverrly, Kubota and ariens were all made by kubota?

Anybody know this for sure and are similar models the same machine?

Trying to keep up with this 3rd party private label BS is a full time job!
I seriously doubt that Kubota claim!

Kubota is its own company.

Ariens owns Gravely.

So, the guy was half correct.

Ariens claims they design and manufacture their own mowers in Brillion, WI.

Saving some sales tax, eh?

You might want to check out the 2 or 3 electric (battery) ones. Someone posted a thread where they were talked about.

I bought a Simplicity Citation XT with a 61" deck with a Briggs 27hp Commercial engine. It has FULL SUSPENSION front and rear and rides great on my 4 acre cuts. I use about 2.5 gals of fuel to cut all of it each time and I can easily run full speed across the field with out issue due to the suspension give and take. While all of that sounds expensive I paid $6,000 for it brand new. It has been perfect and I've changed the hydro oil and filters once on it and of course the engine oil regularly. So far nothing has broken on it. This will be my third cutting season with it. I would highly recommend one of these and especially so if you have bumpy fields like I do. Suspension makes a difference.

Steve

Simplicity and Ferris I understand are own by the same people who own Snapper. At least my dealership told me that as reason they have all three. Understand they use a lot of the parts across the brands with the decks being one of those items. Believe they told me one reason for the three different brands was each brand was better know in certain region of the USA. Last I looked the biggest difference I noticed was the paint between the three is slightly different shades.

Well, I decided yesterday that I'm going to take the plunge and get the Rogue. My dealer got a shipment in. I compared the ride to a Deere Z970r and the Rogue's suspension makes the ride notably better. The Rogue has the 3-link rear suspension, bushing/pivot front and a suspension seat. The Deere only has a suspension seat. These are good looking mowers that seem very well designed. I think I'm going to like this...

You will love your Rouge- I just purchased a Maverick - wonderful machine. Just did not have the money for a higher level commercial Rouge.

Enjoy!

Here are a few pictures of what I ended up with. Bad Boy Rogue 2021 with the 35hp Yamaha EFI and 72" deck.

Took it for a spin around the property and a few swaths of mowing just to check it out. Man, I think the suspension is really going to be a major benefit for me. My lawn is mildly bumpy all over and this really smooths things out. This thing is massive too. It's all proportional so it doesn't really look that big in pics but it is a monster. 72" deck is 12" more width that I had with my Deere x758. And I think it isn't as loud at WOT as the diesel on the Deere. Grass is getting green under the old long brown stuff so it won't be long until this gets a good workout.

Will be very interested in what you think of the Yamaha in terms of Fuel usage and long term durability. Please keep us updated thru the summer.

Sweet looking machine!

That is an awesome unit.

This weekend I pulled the trigger on a Bad Boy as well but a lower end unit. Got the 54" ZT Elite with the Kawasaki engine. It has a suspension and I also have a bumpy lawn to mow so that was one reason to get it. Seems like a lot of bang for the buck.

I have a lot less to mow...about 2 acres. It should cut my mow time by 50% compared to the 48" rider I have been using. At 70, it will be my last mower. Almost went with an even less expensive option but saving $1500 over the next 15 years is not that important to me.

The way our government is pissing away money, that $1500 may not buy much down the road anyway...lol.

Bad Boy has been pushing hard into the commercial market over the past few years. I suspect you will enjoy your machine.
My neighbor bought a smaller residential Bad Boy in 2018 and has not had any problems.

Interesting discussion, I just bought a Toro Titan 60” with MyRide as it will save a lot of time mowing around trees and objects. Looking forward to delivery in a few weeks.
