RNG. That's not the best way to use rebar but it is the approach I've used on concrete wire. Rebar is just too heavy to get it located right.

I used precut 24" pieces. Drove them down to the height I wanted. Then just tied three pieces to them. Making 3 runners. Then crossed all three with all the cross pieces. Then filled in my grid. Used rebar ties to hold everything together.

Two of the first pallets I used for firewood were 2'x4'. My stove uses 18" splits so that meant some wasted space, but each pallet weighed half what a normal 4'x4' pallet would. The pallets were free from a local tile store; it turns out that they come in all sizes because tile shipments vary so much but they all weigh too much to lift by hand.
Yeah ... I need to check around and check CL and see what's out there for free that I can use as a starting point.

I've got a wide mix of sizes because of how the logs were cut. Lots of really short stuff ... which will still burn just fine. There's a nice 2' x 3' bin in at the commercial property - metal frame with wooden sides - that I need to grab next time I'm in there. Would work great for the small stuff. Too heavy for me to load in the van by myself though ...

The furnace down here at the house will take 24" to 26" at most IIRC, the longest the double-barrel stove up in the shop will take is around 28", due to the fire brick I added in the back.

A 2' deep pallet would certainly allow holding quite a bit more, since it wouldn't be sticking out so far beyond the loader pins.

I find that a pair of calf length gumboots with the trouser legs pulled over he outside keeps the chips out of my socks. having rips/tears or holes in the trousers reduces the effectiveness.

Yeah ... I've got a pair of Muck brand chore boots (mid calf) that the soles have become detached from but otherwise ok ... those would probably work great ... just need to get the soles stuck back on.

Is that a FEL limit, or do you already have a fork mount for your 3pt ?
It's a FEL limit ... no fork mount for the 3PH ... yet ... :D

The FEL is rated for 402 kilos (884 lbs) ... I think that is out at the center of the bucket.

But I tweaked up the system relief pressure a couple hundred psi to 2200 ... so it can lift a little more.

Good to see you have plenty of wood in reserve this year.
Yes it is ... nice to know we won't freeze in any event.

And I managed to do it without destroying my elbow or shoulder joints ... although I do still have to gather up and stack it all still.

71 headed to 81 in heavy showers around noon, system working it's way East through the state.

Not doing well this morning.
Was checking air in truck and trailer yesterday, bent over, and something let loose in my lower back near where I already had a disc removed at L5. That ended the day promptly, got into hot tub, that helped, but still very sore and twingy this morning. All wrapped up in back brace and really will behave myself today. Yesterday I mowed the fields, mowed the lawn, and maybe just bounced around too much. Plus I picked up the equalizing hitch for the truck and that didn't feel good at all. I started having back problems almost thirty years ago. Been lucky recently, more focused on other things that don't work...but reminders like this tell me maybe I should just pay that guy to do the hard work on my property, so I can do the "fun" stuff. Am also reminded that Larro's Ponce De Leon Fountain of Youth spa is not open yet. C'mon Larro, bunch of us waiting to get in.

I really enjoyed mowing with the Massey yesterday. Totally different sound, loud diesel bark sounds like a "real" farm tractor, not like my civilized Kubota. Though hopefully when the new low mount muffler comes in the noise level will go down a little. Still stiff shifting and hard moving pto lever. often have to let out clutch slightly to get things aligned. Moving steering wheel does nothing. Tractor only has 175 hours on it now, but surprised it hasn't loosened up a bit more.

Take good care of that back.. This November will be 2 years since I had back surgery, L4/5 fusion and other work. I have been blessed with no pain since surgery, but if I do extra things, it can sure get sore and tired. It is wonderful to have muscle soreness though and not the pain I had before surgery.

40s this morning headed toward 70. Should be a nice day with some clouds coming in later (supposed to get some rain here this weekend, farmers want it bad).

Toppop and I and I bet quite a few of you are addicted to the sound of our V8's. Or, and I wouldn't know...the whine of their Porsche engine winding out.
Or the taut handling through a fast curve. You give that up with electric cars because they are designed as transportation, not fun to drive.
Once again, they should have a motor engine replicator knob on the dash. Cheap to make. And you can pick your favorite five engine noises.
How about a Mattel Vrooom motor?

5.7" of rain since 5pm yesterday, a bunch more coming looks like. We had several roads flooded, some up to 4' of water. Low 70's, cloudy with periods of torrential rain.

Hate to sound like a safety **** here, but especially with the size of those rounds, I wouldn't risk anything but a good pair of steel toe boots for work like that. I can't count the number of times a pair has saved me purple toenails or worse when working with the chainsaws, wood pile, and splitter.

Of course, YMMV...

About ten minutes after "finishing" the fork mount for the FEL I figured out a way to weld on a pair of eyelets and a top link attachment point, and an hour later it was done and working...
LOL ... always good to have additional input ...

I think mebbe I was over-thinking it ... gonna go check the spacing on the QH and see if the lower attachment points will fit between the SSQA plates ...

Yeah ... I've got a good pair of high-top, steel-toe boots ... back from when I was doing wood-cutting out in your neck of the woods (worked out of Penryn :D) ... might have to dig those out.

My current work shoes are steel-toed ... but they are low-cut sneakers ...

Grrrr, I just saw my medical bill where I went to have some spots looked at on my arm. Dr said non cancerous, then asked, "Would you like me to burn them off with liquid nitrogen?" I said why not?

So he left and came back in the room with this small little dewar pump and a plastic stencil with 4 different sized holes in it. Put the stencil with the correct size hole over the spot and hits it for maybe 8 seconds each. Took the little dewar back with him and said I was good to go. It took maybe all of 4 minutes to retrieve the pump, spray me, and return it...

Besides the office visit bill, which was reduced from over $400 billed down to about $85 bucks or quid for Eric, (which I paid $30, they paid $55),....There was a line item for surgery for $630.54....JAW HITS FLOOR....My insurance knocked it down to $181.xx and I'm still steamed about that...Now I know where to aim my anger at...What's the math work out for billing at $630.54 for 4 minutes? ($9458.10/ hour, much less for the reduced $181....($2715/hour)

I have large dewars of liquid nitrogen here at work..just need me some long q-tips and do my own. They made me a followup appointment at their dermatologist doctor...I will let him look me over, but H___ NO will he perform any extra crap on me.

Over 8" of rain, strong winds, flooding, washed out streets, evacuations. We are getting what we usually see other places and say,"Man, I'm glad that's not us!"

Helped the wife out today, then came home to finish up my Woodstove install. Got that done, did a test burn, it works great. No smoke in the house, and lots of heat. It's been years since we had a wood burner, so I have a learning curve going on.
