Good evening all. 59F and clear/calm. Made it to 75F today clear and windy. Had to use arm warmers for today's ride. Found the coolant leak on the heater hose disconnects. Went to town to get tuneup parts and got half the spark plugs swapped out. There is a miss at idle and have not found cause yet, but more plugs to replace. Will repair/replace the heater hoses later, they are hidden from the casual viewer.

"30 days hath September..." End of the month...and inventory time at work. There goes part of today and at least half of Saturday!

42 right now...61 as a high today. Looks like rain both days this weekend, but not enough to do much of anything...

Toppop, sorry about the rain, sounds like what we got earlier this week, and yesterday, totally botched forecast, an afternoon shower dumped 2.35 inches of rain in two hours.
What a flood again, driveway flooded over, went to dinner last night in my car through standing water on my driveway, albeit two inches deep. Gone when I got home but more mess to clean up.

And that's not all the weather woes. I'm now sitting here reading the info on Hurricane Matthew, and wondering if going on the road tomorrow with my lightweight travel trailer and getting stuck in that storm next week trying to get home is going to be a smart idea. Thing will likely blow offshore, but who knows?

Doctor's appt, food shopping, then hook the truck to the trailer, load clothes and food in there, and call it a day. My back is still not good, have to be careful today.

4 tups went in with the ewes yesterday,

short for Tupperware?....
thanks Ed.

You almost got it Drew ! Seriously - no kidding (that would be goats :)).

The Tupperware company really did take it's name from male sheep. I'm not making this up, the inventer's name was Earl Tupper and his family name came from Surname Database: Tupper Last Name Origin

Now we are all tup aware.

Thanks Ed, you are now my official English to English translator

"30 days hath September..."

Wow, September almost gone, no wonder it felt a little chilly this morning. A jacket needed every day from now on.

Farmer, that is a substantial concrete pad you put down. Is it for a feed bin ? If so some cheapskates would only have put in a small pad for each leg and subsequently be able to admire a view of their very own version of the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Kyle, I heard freezing off minor growths was painless, but I almost feel the pain with you on that one.

Billy, how about a short visit and take home a dozen deer with you?
I'd just like a few venison steaks.
I even have a big metal tree stand on a Cypress tree overlooking my pond in the woods.
I'll put a pad on the seat for you.

I had to hit my brakes three separate times last night avoiding deer coming home. Makes driving at night way more stressful than it should be, having these dumb suicidal animals all over the place.

Finished first cup of coffee. 58° with rain this morning. Heading to 60° with wind and rain. 1.6" rain since yesterday. Did not get to rest. Found a roof leak around water heat roof vent. Off to Menards to get some temporary repair material. Between rain drop I got leak to stop. More repairs if and when it stops raining.
Erv, I would go back to wood heat. But my insurance does not allow it. So far my back is thanking me.
Kyle, that's the doctors make up bills today. Even though they know they are not going to get that amount.
Buckeye, prescriptions and doctor bills are a racket.
Good Morning All.

59F and wet @ 07:00 ... had about 1.25" of rain in the last 24 hours. More rain on tap for today, high of 67F.

Did some kitchen clean up yesterday morning and then spent the rest of the day cleaning up in the shop. Also went and saw the barber and got my ears lowered.

More shop clean up today and finish my homebrew pickaroon/hookaroon.

Might get out between the raindrops and measure the forks and see if I can the tabs cut and drilled for a 3PH mounting.

I can't believe it is the end of September...

Tomorrow is my brides birthday and we are hosting a big bonfire party... It's been raining for days, driveway is half washed out and there is not a single stick of wood in the bonfire pit. I have a reputation to uphold and I do not know how I'm gonna do it. My yard is soaking sloppy wet....

Sigh.

I hope and pray all is well with all-o-y'all.

Be well,
David

Good morning all, 60 going to 67 with a 70% chance of rain. Looks like we have had about 3" between yesterday and last night. Hope to get band saw put together today but God only knows what I will end up doing.

Drew be careful, my cousin had to have 12 or 13 surgerys to get to the point where the pain is under control.
The prius has 3 buttons, EV or all electric, normal and power. It will scoot up Afton mountain just as well as the Subaru with a v6, sound is a little lacking though. Maybe I could try the card trick.

Eric Glad I now have a purpose in life. How do you spell trans lay tor.

Toppop, Be careful sounds like you could get damp before it is done.

Have a great day Ed

Good morning! A shivering 54˚ with clear skies.

61°F and cloudy with a slight breeze this morning in our little corner of Southern Illinois. Need to do some overgrowth management today, but with a chance for more rain I'm not sure that's going to happen today or tomorrow.

56 this morning and headed to 65 today. Already rained once and more forecast for this afternoon.

Will be working on baby's room today. Unless something else comes up.

Kyle. I hear ya on the medical bills. Originally the baby's bills were over 20k and oldest tonsils surgery was over 6k. The good thing is insurance and out of pocket limits. Whatever else needs doing before the end of the year is basically free. :).

MFW. Good to hear from you. You'll figure out something.

Eric. Yes it's a feed bin pad. I poured to manufacturers specs. As I didn't want my own leaning tower. Now just waiting on the bin.

IMG_2602.JPGIMG_2599.JPGWe got a bit over 10" in this spot, in 48 hours, my yard is a lake and I have 12" per 100' of drop, everything is saturated it has nowhere to go. Near her got over 15"! This only the second time we have had water in the yard, the other was 3 years ago when a storm dumped 6" in 2 hours. Roads are flooded, some washed out altogether, some damaged, had to rescue people yesterday and today from a retirement community and from a neighborhood isolated by water. What a mess.

Good Morning! 76F @ 10:30AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 78F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph.

This is the first day of a cooling trend that will last into next week, bringing a tiny bit of rain Sunday night and maybe a bit of snow to the high mountains. It'll be a welcome change from the near hundred degree temps of the past few weeks.

Hope no one gets hurt by all that rain on the east coast!

Welcome back to the woodburning clan, Irv. Firing up the stove for the first time in the fall is something I look forward to, especially once the firewood pile is replenished.

Oh, and if my home insurance company wouldn't let me have a woodstove, I'd find one that wood (sorry, couldn't resist the pun).

Same problem with deer here, Drew. Except they're active at all hours, not just the night time. Staying alert, a good set of driving lights, and lower speeds help, especially on the motorcycles, but it's always the one you don't see that gets you.

poptopOverall.jpg poptopTextureCoin.jpg

Got the bedliner applied to the poptop and luggage carrier yesterday. I hesitate to call it painting, as the stuff goes on with the consistency of thin mud and the gun that shoots it has a 5/16" hole in the nozzle. I didn't get the best coverage in all the areas, but the texture is about what I wanted, maybe just a little rougher. I should probably go ahead and paint it to get a more even color, but I don't have enough dulling agent to give an eggshell look, and a very shiny but lumpy surface would look funny. So I'll let it go as is for now and see how the stuff holds up over the winter. The best thing about the job is once started it went very quickly, with three quarts of the stuff going on in less than an hour. and that includes mixing each of three separate batches.

I'm with you, Roy, TGIF!!!
