As I said in an earlier post, if you were to crank the engine while holding the loader control for lift, it would raise (or at least some will). The pump is connected to the engine so turning over the engine turns over the pump. It wouldn't move fast but you wouldn't have to lift it much.

Just put the loader in float & lift it with the come along, chain fall, winch or a highlift jack. Pop it out of float to lock it in place.

Since there is no fluid flowing into the cylinders from what would normally be the pressure side when lifting, what holds the cylinders up when the come along, chain fall, winch or highlift jack is removed?

We had to raise the blade on my JD70 this past weekend and I know jacking the blade up only created a void/vaccuum inside the cylinder which promptly collapsed once the jack was removed; we had to chain it up in place once we had it jacked up.

In this case impossible, the tractor had been backed into the barn.

You power up your hydros off of the log splitter because all of your equipment has compatible QDs and pop the loader off the pins. Then you winch the tractor onto your trailer because you happen to have a 5 ton chain block for such occasions.

Well guys, good news...

I tried the easiest method first and it worked. Had the heat bulb on the pump last night, then pointed the torpedo at it for a couple hrs this morning. Picked up fresh fuel, drained the tank and the filter. Refilled with with the fresh fuel, a little kerosene and a smidgen of PS. She started right up! No priming other than priming the fuel filter with the ignition.

Ran her for an hour just now clearing snow, and so I have to believe that all the old fuel is out of the system by now.

I guess we'll know next time I go to start it.

Thanks for all the help and replies. Definitely learned some new stuff about the tractor, and I appreciate you lending me your knowledge.

On a side note, this got me thinking (which is usually dangerous) ... Could I take these injectors to a shop and have them upgraded/replaced with bigger injectors, and if so, would that yield more power by itself? Or would additional programming be required?

Just my 2 cents of advice, Ive been a millwright for 15 years and i learned to start with the simple stuff a long time ago. Never dive in and pull the guts out on the table before you try the simple stuff first. Heat, filter, new fuel etc. Taking the injector pump apart or the injectors out will # 1 void warranty # 2 cost a boat load of money if you don't know what your doing.
