Tractor
yanmar cbl40
I have a yanmar cbl 40. Wondering if it will handle 72" snowblower? It's a 40 hp tractor but only rated 24hp at the pto. Why does this tractor have such a decrease in hp at the pto? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

To the forum. I can't find that model, cbl40, anywhere but I did notice that several Yanmars have a wide difference in HP between engine and PTO.

A hydrostatic will at that horsepower but probably not a gear tractor by virtue of the speed control factor

I ran a 60" 3pt blower for years with a Kioti CK20Hst, rated at 17hp on pto. With HST its easy to adust speed to snow load , heavy wet snow slow down and take a smaller bite.
Technically most literature says 5hp per foot of cut, so I should have had a 25 or 30hp tractor but never really had a problem. So IMO one foot more should be no problem for you.

Those are nice tractors,
I don't see any problem either with a 6 foot blower,
will a five footer cover your rear wheels?

The CBL-40 is a very rugged machine but closer to 35 net hp than 40. It has a larger hydraulic pump than a CUT of that hp and twice as much weight to throw around, so I don't think it should be surprising that 24hp is the leftover PTO output after accounting for the parasitic loss. Unfortunately I don't have any snowblower insight to offer, but I think you'd have one tank of a snow-plow platform if you ever decided to put a front blade on it--almost 8000 lbs of weight, wow!
