Big tractor syndrome

I am having fun with it, and it is doing just what I want it to do....so far I have not needed a larger machine, but we are only one job in. I am going to try to keep a running journal on its adventures...it is in the Kubota section if anyone wants to look..... So I am still on my original position...I think many push the larger machines onto people that really don't need them.

I wish someone had pushed me to a machine about twice as big as I have....and I'm starting out a couple times bigger than a BX.

Most of us have tried to be as helpful as possible and provide the best advice possible based on years of experience; most of us are not easily annoyed, but you have managed to do so. I've "contributed" all I intend to.

There was no my tractor is bigger than yours that I saw in this thread at least up until you purchased. There was no strong arm attempts to manipulate you into a larger tractor.

There was however attempts to help you with careful advice from people with more experience than you.

I was one of the people who cautioned about the BX and thought you may want to consider a little larger. I have used a garden tractors, BX, B6200, B2620, Ford 2N, Ford 5000, a few different rental backhoes and excavators, and a few more that I can't remember right now. My bet is there were other responders who used a lot more different types and sizes than I have.

I really hope it works out well for you.

But I bailed out of this thread at one point based on my impressions of the futility of offering advice to someone who distrusted everything you heard.

Now you are on a mission to prove how you were right in the first place and all those egos with big tractor syndrome are foolish.

Not a good way to introduce yourself to a forum full of people who could help you in the future.

I guess I should be more careful....I am use to dealing with people with thicker skin, I am sorry you thought my comments inferred someone tried to strong arm or whatever.

I did come here because of the experience, however I do know people are people. Some are very brand loyal....some think that they know everything and if you discount their advice they take it as a personal insult. They try to backup their advice by tossing all their qualifications at you and making you feel very small about yourself. That is all ok.

Right now I am not qualified to make a call one way or the other....It could be that I made a $20k mistake, and from your tone that is really what you are hoping for. All you have to do is check out the Kubota sub forum here and you will get a blow by blow of what I use the little machine for.

You are not foolish if you have a machine that does what you need to do.....however I think that many times people suggest a machine that is going to use 5% of its "ability, power whatever" and they over buy.

That is all I am trying to do not over buy, and show people a real report on what this little machine can do.

You still dont get it and probably never will. It is not about the machine. The BX25 TLB is a very capable machine. You dont believe people when they say they hope it works well for you.

It is about people. I cant believe this is the first time you have run across this but maybe so. You have seen a number of people tell you that your approach in this thread annoyed them. Take a hint... or not.

I'm comfortable with myself and could care less. You might just reread this thread and discover something -- not about machines but about yourself and people. But I have my doubts.

You are not the first person to say I am thick headed.....but I am someone that wants cold hard facts, those that do not like what the facts have to say usually say there are none, The facts are just not out there and that I am going to do my best to document my ownership experence. It will be great fun....and also be a test of just what I get out of the machine. I am one of those people that keeps track of every time gas gets put in the car, I want to know that what I buy I am getting the most value out of. I don't buy on feeling, I buy on fact. As there was not enough facts out there and a great deal of chest pumping I just made a choice and I will document publically everything this little machine will do. It might not be applicable to anyone, but I do know if it was out there when I bought I would have read it cover to cover.

It is only about the machines and their abilities...and those abilities are unknown and undocumented....all I have are people that seem to take it personal that I did not take their advice.

(I am in the process of installing InfoPath....man it takes forever)

Okay, I'm gonna go with GPintheMitten, you just don't get it.

We see this sometimes here at TBN. Usually the person comes out of it over time. We'll see in your case.

I should have added that in perfect world, I'd also have something like a BX to go along with my current tractors, and the one that's twice as big (honestly, I think a full size backhoe would be good). :drink:
