Muhammad,

Have you considered a Chit Chat post for those that just want to talk about anything outside of a relevant forum.

It does make one depressed in trying to follow the relevant topic.

When the thread tends to deviate to anything and everything, I tend to bypass that thread.

One could also redirect them over to the appropriate forum if it does not contain the key element.

There's already one called "Related Topics". It is described as "No politics, religion, joke lists or personal/legal advice threads. Keep it clean and friendly!". Couldn't that be used for chit chat? I agree with you that off topic posts make it difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff.

It's happens often, as of late. There are a few members that tend to derail a thread just by being there or posting, sometimes not intentional, just not paying attention.
I think we should all look at the thread title then re read our post before posting, and ask ourselves if we should start another thread or not.

Post #6 is a good example of the totally useless post.

There is definitely a "cluster of offtopic" involving several members of late.

FP is the place for the discussion, that's true, however every thread they post in turns into the same "chit chat". Its more about trying to keep a thread on topic as opposed to which forum it's posted into. Its not really fair to the OP to send his thread into the crapper because a few want to turn it into a highschool dance:rolleyes:

Just a troll JJ...ignore it...

You must be a real blast at a party..........post 6 was funny.......you apparently have no sense of humor.... sad.....live a little....smile....will do your face and your attitude wonders....really!

I don't mind a thread going a little off topic like if we are talking about scraper blades and it turns into tillers, trailers or something that is somewhat relevant. Lately the threads have been going waaaaaaayyyyy off topic though and it completely demolishes them. It is definitely annoying. We better hope a female doesn't post a picture in this thread or it will turn out that way.

Great idea...farmgirl (and to a lesser extent, brandi) can get their chains pulled there.

Yeah, I know, I'm goin' to helllll, but it does get a bit old...good god.

And I want to make it clear...you gals have great stuff to offer, it just gets old with the "follow up". (not for you gals, I know).

One of my threads was just moved to the front porch.

I understand the OP and don't completely disagree, but if TBN turns into something like a Joe Friday interview, I really have no interest in posting.

I have looked up and read the post of some of the chit/chat posters, and that is what most of their post is, just chit chat, and they just babble on and on, thinking that is normal. I wonder if their friends have told they have a problem. Even smiley faces don't help their situation.

Someone should have the authority to just trash those kinds of post.

I would hope the administrators would jump in and clean up some of the garbage and guide them to the correct path, maybe over to Facebook and Twitter.

Perhaps charge a fee for every post not on track with the forum.

Yes, the front porch is the chit chat forum. You can update your subscription to access that forum here: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/profile.php?do=editusergroups

You can also ignore members who you don't feel are worth reading posts from. Do so by visiting their profile and then clicking "Add to ignore" list on the left side of the profile page.
