Help mme understand Pole Barns

my 24 x 40, fully enclosed, pole barn, with two garage doors and one man door, was built in less than 12hrs by a 3 man crew and it cost me less than 7K in Northern VA. I had a concrete slab added for less than 2K and I just added power and water myself last weekend. I built wheeled platforms for all my tractor attachments (got the idea here) and swapping out attachments on a smooth surface is a breeze. Now the root cellar ('cough' gun range 'cough') I'm putting in under the barn is another story

One other point I'll mention-you may get a propery tax break on a pole barn versus a conventional framed barn. As I understand, the theory is that a pole barn is considered a "temporary" structure while a conventional framed barn is considered a "permanent" structure for tax purposes.

not here in Idaho. if its set in concrete...its permanent

A big advantage for the pole structure is wall height is easier to attain. If you need a tall door to get in and out of as in the case of a semi tractor you have better options for taller doors.
