Will DEF harm a CUT?

Is DEF the reason why diesel exhaust smells like chlorine? (That’s what I smell even though the main ingredient is urea.)

I filled my cans at a station that apparently pumps regular diesel by default, but if you push the button, it pumps DEF. I was confused by this and put about half a gallon in my 5 gallon can. It's hard to get a clear answer by searching online so I thought I'd ask on here. Do you think it's safe to use this can that is 90$ diesel and 10% DEF on my Kioti CS2510?
Thanks for any help/advice.
POUR IT OUT! DON'T PUT IT IN YOUR TRACTOR FUEL TANK.

DEF reacts with Diesel and turns it into a crystalline gel, which is very hard to get dissolved. If it gels/crystalizes in the injectors you have to replace them, and the filters, and the tank, the lines, pumps, etc. Dave's Auto Channel has a couple of videos on his YouTube Channel.

I revisited the station. The manager was not there and nobody could give me any information. I'm attaching photos and a closeup of the instruction on the pump. There is only one hose, but it looks like the pump offers DEF and diesel. Two prices are on the pump as well. I tried pushing the DEF button and nothing happened, What do you all think?
If you look at the pump, there is another hose behind the door on the right. That is the DEF hose. If you were buying DEF, you would insert that hose into your DEF tank and then push the DEF button. I would venture to guess that the hose you used the first time was diesel only, as the hose on the left does not access the DEF. Your fuel is ok..

I'm still trying to understand how it's physically possible to get 0.5 gallons of DEF out of a diesel pump.

Either it's all DEF or it's all diesel. Reality dictates that it's all diesel...unless aliens somehow got involved in this normally simple task of filling up a can.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) does not contain sulfur; it is primarily made up of 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water. DEF is used in diesel engines to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions, and it is separate from the diesel fuel itself, which must be ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) to meet emissions standards. since it does not contain sulfur if running in a older machine I would add transmission fluid to the fuel about 1 quart per 5 Gallons, to keep the injection pump lubricated. the sulfur in Diesel fuel helps lube the injection pump

That pump is in the truck island, diesel is for filling off side fuel tank and no nozzle for DEF on that side.
The nozzle for DEF is probably on the other side with the card reader as most DEF tanks are on the driver side of trucks and tractors.
Unless you removed DEF hose and pumped it in, maybe it is all diesel??
If you aren’t sure what is in the can, don’t use for fuel. Fire starter, cleaning parts, wash dirty tractor, etc ……….

Suggestion for fellas buying road diesel,
Get a 30 gal barrel and manual pump and buy off road only. Last fuel I bought in a truckstop was going bad and plugged up all the fuel filters and line from tank. It was the last tank (100gal) for winter storage and heavily treated, went bad sitting in tank. Bad fuel was in the bottom and after filling everything was stored inside.I ended up dumping about 50 gallons of rotten fuel and all fuel in tractors.
Very expensive lesson on buying clean fuel. Station was a NEW Dodges with fuel 20 cents cheaper than other stations.

Do not repeat DO NOT, put that mixture through any diesel engine. The damage and repairs will cost 1000’s of times the cost of 5gallons of diesel!
Mark that container as fuel for burning debris in some manner that will be recognized by all for years to come.
In my opinion, The bit of residue that might remain in the container is not worth the risk of damage to your engine.
But a new fuel container, and be extra cautious when getting fuel in future.
Final comment it is your contaminated fuel and engine, do with it what you wish. As for me, the potential damage is not worth the cost of 5 gallons of diesel!
