About 50 or so years ago I rented a truck mounted hoe for some sewer line work. It was a bigger hoe and a bigger truck. Worked real well. Think we were at about 25 feet +\- most of the time 
Do some digging at professional places and get on with setting it up. Needs four outriggers and a hefty frame between the outriggers. This unit sits on the truck frame but does not use the truck for strength. Truck provides transportation.
