What changed the picture size?

Greetings TBNers,

I'm sure someone can tell me what's happening when I "mess" with pictures.

I just saved a picture from a post and when I look at my filelist it is shown a being 1254KB, if the limit for posting is 100KB then how did that picture get posted or what increased the size when I saved it?

Maybe is should not have been "tampering" with a fellow poster's picture, all I wanted to do was lighten it up and repost with my comment.

I'll appreciate all replys and suggestions.

Sorry to bother you after all the work you and your team had to do the last couple of days.

I was attempting to lighten RobS picture showing his JD leaning////.

All I did was save and when I checked the size it shows as 1254KB

If you're using Windows and you right clicked it to save it, the default file type is .bmp which will be much greater than an equivalent .jpg format /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif . Check and see if that's the problem.

That was the problem. I did not realize BMP would save a JPG in a larger size.
Now if I can just remember that the next time....

Im getting that problem too so i just "save target as" and it saves it as default size.

How do you have the picture show up on the screen without opening the attachment?

My "save target as" is shaded out so I can't choose that option.
This is when I right click on the photo.
Any more assistance will be appreciated.
