Since I've mainly used the fel I was completely green to the 3ph, but I think I'm starting to get it now. I built and have been using a draw bar on only the bottom arms, I welded tabs so it won't spin around. When towing things, especially my heavy fish/ski boat, the load would flop side to side sometime violently going in reverse. I never tightened the turnbuckles(don't have side supports)I left them loose so I could get the bar on and off easily. Now I understand why all the slop and flop. Thanks Fallon. So I should loosen the turnbuckles to hook/unhook implements, then tighten them to each implement's fit? Now I see what all the talk is about quick hitches. If I had/used more equipement it might be worth the expense, but not yet.
TripleR, what did those pin-adjustable stabilizers cost you?

I've bought so much stuff, I hope I am remembering correctly, I believe it was about $130, they are sold by another TBN member hodge, a great guy with whom to do business: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/235360-explanation-replacement-stabilizers.html

Sounds about right. Flopping around while moving generally means wear & tear plus a greatly increased chance of breaking things. Not to mention precision & control issues.

Be very careful about towing using your 3pt hitch. If you suddenly stop or go down a dip, the trailer can push the 3pt up. A 3pt is designed to lift things, not push them down. As soon as a load gets above the rear axels, bad flipping over type thing get very possible. Is recommend a little reading in the safety forum on the topic.

Personally I do own & use a 3pt hitch trailer mover. I'm mostly moving empty trailers slowly short distances though. If I were moving bigger loads or using it often, I'd be hitching to the drawbar.

I only move things around in my own yard, very slowly, carried low and then very rarely. But I never adjusted the turnbuckles, I think that's why I had an over-abundance of slop. The next time I attach something I'll tighten the stabilizer turnbuckles and test for slop factor.
