Rear Blade Tuffline Rear Blade Info

I am looking at a Tuffline 6ft blade. I believe it is a GB4 model. Moldboard Height 17", thickness looks like 1/4". It has 3 forward and 3 reverse adj. Also 2 tilt adj. in each direction. Then one thing that I hadn't seen on rear blades, 2 offset adj. It is Hyd. ready, although I don't believe that I would put a cyl. on it. The price is $600.

My questions are:
1) How is the quality of the Tuffline Blades?
2) Is this a good price for the Tuffline brand?

Rich, I don't know about the prices, nor do I know anything about that model, but I had a 4' Monroe Tufline box blade that I used on my B7100 and I don't think I've seen any box blades that were any better. The Tufline would be my first choice.

Not sure about the cost, but the quality is absolutely top-notch. The only reason I went with LandPride was the Tuffline dealer is too far away and I had no way to pull a trailer to pick it up myself.

I dont know about the tuffline cause the dealers that sell them is a little farther than I wish to drive. Right now im deciding between the befco and the woods leaning towards the befco because it just looks really heavy and it does weigh about 25 to 30 lbs more than the woods. It also helps that its orange also. Cost for both the woods rb 60 and the Befco brb 60 are $325.00 through the dealer. The woods has a 5f/3r positions and a 3 position tilt for ditches and the befco is 5f/5 rand 3 position tilt with a manual move the blade over for offset but you can check them both out at

When are you gonna put a web site?? I've seen other posts of yours advertising different implements, email for quote/freight, etc. We all know how we like our instant gratification and pictures. If we're gonna buy on line, we at least need a web site so that we can still get the visuals, even if we sacrifice the mud, diesel fumes and rustic personalities of a visit to the local dealer. Maybe you could just put a collection of links to the manufacturer's page of the products you sell. Since these are all impulse purchases for me at this point, I won't go "over the top" without that picture to get me salivating.

Tufline is one of the best. Their website is http://www.monroetufline.com. You can get the specs from the web site and email them for any additional info. I have a Tufline disk, box blade, and grader blade.

Thanks all for the info. I have gone through the websites posted and checked some other local dealers and plan on purchasing this grader blade. It was the GB1 model not the GB4 but it is plenty for me and I can pick it up today. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Figured I would show some pics of the Tufline blade that I purchased. Thanks for all of your info, links, suggestions.

3, 4, and 5th pictures are showing the offset feature of the blade. This feature, as well as the ruggedness, really sold me on the blade. Lets you keep the tractor on level ground while cleaning out ditches, or pulling the gravel back into the road.

Thanks for posting those pics. That's the model and size I'm considering but Tuffline's web site doesn't have very good photos. It looks like a very heavy, well built piece. I'm hoping they got my email requesting some literature.

Can you swing the blade around 180 degrees with your JD? Anyone know if you can on a B2710?

Yes I can. This is the 6ft model and I didn't have any problem swinging it around.
This past weekend I was making some trenches getting ready for next springs run-off. I had it completely tilted and found that I didn't have a lot of clearance for the lower corner. This was noticable when moving around and having the 3ph up completely. I had to bring the top link all the way in and even then only had a 3-4 inches of clearance. This was while creating the ditch/trench in some pretty uneven ground. While on level ground it was fine.
If you have a specific area that you want a close-up of just ask. I am very happy with the blade!

Thanks for the report, Rich! Did you actually have to pay $600 for that blade? It's a bit more than most others I've read about here on TBN... but it's by far the heaviest non-hydraulic 6' blade I've found that has all the tilt, offset, etc. features. BTW, I have a Tufline 5' boxblade that I'm real happy with.

Yes I did pay $600. Most prices here in upper NH are higher than most on the board. I don't know if it is because of the lack of competition or because we are pretty far away from the manuf. plants.
Most prices from the misc. dealers around here (checked Me, Vt, and NH) were in the $100 per foot category. The first dealer I talked with gave me that estimate and it proved pretty true. But that was for non-tilt blades. With the tilt it added between $80 and $100. I didn't find anyone with the offset.
Also most of the dealers around here didn't want to dicker on the prices. They had 1 or 2 blades and the price on it was the price they wanted.
Oh well. Like the blade and if I had to hire out some of the work that I have already done with it, it has paid for itself. And that is only with around a months time with it.

You made a wise choice. The price may be a little higher than other brands but I think it is worth it. I paid $415 for a GB1-72 about 18 months ago but it was part of a package deal. I bought a JD 5210 with a 521 FEL and a MX6 brush cutter. Also, the shipping charges were probably much less that for yours. I live in the Birmingham, AL area which is a couple of hours away from Tuflines's plant in Starkville, MS. Since then I bought a Tufline disk and box blade. They are supposed to start making a landscape rake, if they do I will get one from them. I think you got a good deal.

Thanks again! Prices around here also seem to be on the high side. I feel it's a combination of little competition and a general understanding between the few dealers what their markups will be. Oh well, time to start shopping!
