From a recent Reuters article (U.S. companies adapt to 'endless' China tariffs | Reuters)

"Some companies are resorting to the price hikes they have been delaying. Kubota held off raising prices until now in hopes that the costs associated with tariffs - including higher prices for imported parts from China - would be short-lived. Kubota has 10 U.S. factories, with seven in Kansas. Its business has been hammered by retaliatory tariffs on U.S. farmers, said Stucke.

“We held out as long as we could,” he said. The company is implementing across-the-board price increases of 1 to 5 percent, depending on the item, as of Friday."

You guys should be happy that you finally have someone looking out for ya.

My god, could we ever use someone like that.

Yup sure do.....and I AM thankful!

If it means more sales of US goods, then it is a positive. If it does not, then the extra money going into the treasury from the tariffs is solely a tax from the US consumer. With the added costs, if the consumer puts off buying or goes into debt deeper, then there may become a larger problem down the road.

No kidding! Our puppet in Ottawa is only interested in feminism & how to take orders from the UN:punch:

Many people here hate that orange man, because we are suffering, and I say good for them, meaning the USA. Just because we don't stick up for ourselves.

You know, apparently some news rooms change the color to make him look orange. Now that's funny, if it weren't such a sad commentary on the state of the media.

I sometimes wonder if anyone remembers that speech of Gordon Sinclair (sp?) (Hope I got the name right) that made it to the top ten music charts in the early 70s?

I do and I quote it often without going down the Tube.

But Gordon would be extremely dismayed today at recent events.

And not to nitpick before this thread gets shelved, but it was Byron McGregor's reading that got into the top ten. Sinclair's did not:

"A transcript of the commentary was also recorded by Byron MacGregor, news director of Windsor, Ontario, radio station CKLW (AM), and it became an even bigger hit in the U.S., climbing to #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Sinclair was said to be annoyed by MacGregor's recording, which was released as a single before Sinclair's authorized version.[16] At the time, CKLW was owned by Toronto media baron John Bassett. In Canada, Sinclair's version peaked at #30, topping McGregor's, which missed the top 40, stalling at #42. "

I liked it then and still like it now, but have become somewhat disillusioned. Sometime people don't do things just out of the goodness of their heart. Imagine that!

Or help itself. All the stuff that only comes out after time, and you see the manipulation of the masses, false flag operations and other motives.

There will always be a negative while trying to get out of a ditch I guess.. Some of the positive things I have read that he is working on I never heard come out of the mouth's of the men before him, let alone try to do something about them.. I think he is doing the best he can with what he has..

Hi there, I was reading the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (I'm an under 3 posts to post links but if you search on it, the United States International Trade Commission website has the files) and I do not see any tariffs due on most tractors or implements (Unless importing from North Korea or Cuba). Engines and rebuilt parts generally were in the <5% range.

That was actually how I interpreted the quote from the article. The tariffs, and the increased prices, are only on the parts of the tractor that are manufactured and then imported from China, as opposed to being applied to the entire tractor. Those increases will be in the 1-5% range.

<gasp> Yes, that means Kubota is admitting some of the parts on their tractors are made in China.

^^ Where do they get their steel from to make the frames, body panels and other components?
It's not clear to me if they are referring in the article to raw materials, or assembled components. The article specifically says "parts" (what I interpret to mean assembled components) as opposed to "materials" (such as the raw steel). Maybe they get their steel somewhere else? Or maybe the author just neglected to mention that aspect of the price increases.

And let's remember that 5% doesn't sound like much to many, but it can be the breaking point for some. 5% on $20,000.00 is $1,000.00 which can kill a deal for some. Yes, I know they aren't raising the full price of any given machine, but larger machines could go up that much. It can mean buying a different brand that hasn't raised their price (yet), or buying used instead of new. Or not buying at all. If sales start falling, who does that help?

id say on that %5. most people finance and really I doubt they will notice or care about the difference of 1,000$
