Tractor Recommendation

I just serviced a JD 790 and the dealer didn't seem to remember that model. I had to go back twice for more fluid and filters.

Tractor was absolutely horrible in every way compared to my 1626 Mahindra.

My 1626 has has two issues in 1025 hours. Tach cable broke at 890 and pto solenoid failed at 1010. Had both parts in less than a week.

It's never been back to dealer since I bought it.

I used a Kubota L2501 as well. Wasn't impressed with it either. I did like that it was a 4 cylinder but that was it.

The L01 series were very unrefined and antiquated. It was the reason I never seriously considered one or bought one. Kubota lacked refinement for a long time. It's just been the last year that they are finally getting their act together. I don't know what took them so long. As I stated in another post, they weren't my first, second or even third choice when I first started shopping for a tractor.

Yep, they need to get it together for sure. Especially since the 1626 is also a Japanese built tractor with A LOT more features for A LOT less money than the L2501. Not to mention no treadle pedal on the hydro and a shuttle shift on the gear drive.

Kubota just "updated" the L3301 and 3901 but not the 2501.

Guess they're selling enough to not care.

They finally updated it this year but it won't be available until next spring. They announced it at the annual dealer meeting this year. You can find a video of it on YT.

I honestly could care less. Unless it's an amazing list of updates and a big price drop, which I doubt, I don't see the draw.

I wouldn't go that far, they improved it but you are probably better off keeping what you have. You seem to be happy with it and that's all that matters.

If anything,I'm sure it's cosmetics. I doubt the tractor itself is any different.

Sounds like you have it nailed. From what I read vs the 01 series, the 02 adds standard rubberized floor mats, independent PTO on the HST, available arm rests and improved styling.

The L2501 is a very basic tractor indeed. But it's still a very popular model. Some people are drawn to the Simplicity and even the standard gear transmission. The reason Kubota sells so many is because of their reputation.

Kubota makes a good tractor. They could use some ergonomic improvement for the NA market. Basically we are bigger people than their operator models. :p
In my MX tractor when I turn to use the gannon my knees are in the controls. I guess it was designed to be operated by an owl.
I think the rear controls are designed to set and forget but that is not how it works. I'm 6ft 195# and I find the gear and rear controls too close to the seat.

Yep. Well it sounds like they did finally update the PTO on the hst at least.

Keeping it all in the same thread, thought i'd give an update.

I am just about to sign the paperwork on a 23 MT347HC. Optioned with grapple valve/ control, rimgaurd and the 3104 backhoe. The actual grapple will be a future purchase. Will keep my eye open for a 6' rotary... new or used cheap... will eventually want a back blade/box blade... tiller... backhoe thumb... probably an endless list.

I'll post pictures upon delivery. (hopefully couple weeks)

Does anyone know the total length of the LS MT347 plus loader (and bonus if you can give me the additional length of the 3100 series backhoe mounted?

I like the MT 3 series LS machines. Seems like a solid machine.

SO.... still waiting on the dealer to get word on the backhoe. I've had to call him this week and last for an update... seems like trying to spend 50k should warrant attentive service... uhg. he said LS does report the backhoe is in stock and that it just hasn't shipped... so maybe next week I should get my new machine? the only positive on waiting was that i should now get the 1.99 interest instead of 3.99... so thats good.

Just called back to the dealer again... and his response is that his rep is going to check the warehouse to find out what is going on with the backhoe. is this a red flag or am I being impatient? I gave verbal purchase go ahead on 3/29. Tractor is sitting on dealer lot and they are waiting on the backhoe. Dealer originally told me 2 weeks and I still don't have a delivery date... assuming earliest i'll get it at this point is next week. Is a month wait normal for a new purchase for a tractor sitting on the lot?

I need some types of tractors that are suitable for mountains, hills and low slopes. Can you give me some of them and their specificity?

so... tractor finally showed up today. i'm still annoyed... dropped off by a young guy who's never ran something this big... so, having him show me around the tractor was about as helpful as reading the owners manual. I'm also really disappointed in the condition the tractor showed up in... minor complaint it was full of dust and bird sht... fine... but dealer forgot to include the backhoe thumb (was not listed on invoice), even though we went thru entire list last week. fine, i'll order a thumb. but two minutes into using the loader, i bent the loader kickstand... which somehow dropped into the down position and got bent backwards... toss this up to user error, but i have no idea how that happened, I can't physically even move the other side to lower it... but when i went to remove the bent one, I removed the pin and noticed that it was 100% dry... zero grease. I checked the other zirks and most had some grease, but found about 6 between the loader and backhoe that had no grease at all. I checked the oil, and there was oil and coolant. aside from the other dings and rust already...(delivery guy said they'd ship me touchup paint, and that he was sorry they would normally do that, but didn't have any). I also went to close the back window and i saw something pop off on the outside, walked around to check and the plastic washer broke in half and fell off the glass. i'm so disappointed in this purchase experience... is this common? i would think spending 50k on a new tractor would be a pretty exciting experience, but i'm pretty deflated on this. I can't tell if this is just LS, the dealer, bit of both or just every tractor experience.
that being said, i am excited to get this thing working on my property. and as is the rule... pix or...
